    problems with xavier update

    Advertisements

Lately there have been many problems with Xavier, and many students are unhappy. First off, the president of the school has been making visits to the island, and has been avoiding the students. He has been to the island twice already and has not even met with the students even once. The students have a lot of things that they would like to discuss with him, but he doesnt seem interested in meeting with the students. Secondly, the WHO approval is a big concern of all the students at Xavier. On the website the application form for WHO states that it has been in since 2004, and two years later, the school still has nothing. Where does that leave the students of xavier? The admin keeps brushing it off, saying its not important for licensure, but after doing research, we all know that it is. The last time there was a meeting with the president, he told the students that he himself, along with a government official from aruba were going to Switzerland to sort out the WHO stuff, but of course, no one went anywhere, and nothing was accomplished, and since then no one has seen or heard back from the president or the admin so once again the students are left in the dark. The students of Xavier would like some clear answers as to what is going on considering the fact that they are paying 6000$ per semester, and not much around here seems to be improving, if anything..quite the opposite.

    Non-WHO school

Xavier STILL isn't listed by WHO???
How can anyone seriously consider attending a school, which can't even get itself on the WHO list? Especially as they claim TWO charters? One must think that one of them could work out???

Yes, I do notice that Xavier is listed in IMED. However, this is only relevant in regards to ECFMG certification. Down the road, Xavier grads needs state licenses, and I know a number of them that by statute are required to use the WHO list.... So how exactly will this work out? Yeah, it'll be years down the road. But Xavier has now been in existence for close to two years, yet has not yet been able to get itself on a list which has never been considered among the most difficult to get into. I'm amazed...

    Just a comment

..."So how exactly will this work out?"

Some states are removing WHO from their language to include IMED.

However, this doesn't mean a student should bank on this possibility alone. My best guess is at the time of licensing they will have to take a microscopic look at each individual state and seek licensure in states that do not require WHO or that instead just mentions IMED, or mentions the famous..."and or" IMED, WHO.

    Good luck

Absolutely! I don't understand why people even bother to come to this school when there are plenty of other schools to choose from

While I understand this but every school should be on every list possible, who's to say they have a charter? IMED is a list, WHO only lists chartered schools, is IMED the same? I'm not sure. But on the website for this school there is a letter 2 years old asking for charter and intent to charter, wheres the real charter and WHO letter confirming it after 2 years? I think it's a fair question.
