Hey I'm also starting in Jan 2012. Havent found anyone else who is either. Glad to see this string started. Maybe we can find a few more people.
I also haven't recieved any invoice but I called and they confirmed they had recieved my payment and such. You could prolly try that and just ask to speak to the accounts department. They're pretty good that way.
Im a bit worried about my visa/immigration status tho. I'm totally confused as to how that works. Ive done all the paperwork they've asked us to go through including getting the apostille and notarized documents but im not sure how long the process is supposed to take after its been sent to the NY office. Anyone have any information on this that might clarify this a bit for me?
    Thanks!

Helpful tips for the incoming md1 students.

    Hello Everyone,

I just thought of replying to this thread becoz having a knowledge about certain things prior to coming to the island can be helpful in getting started with your new semester:

The immigration stuff will take TIME. Usually the immigration dept. in Aruba is nice to the students, so u should be fine.
Bring 2 pairs of scrubs and a dissection kit, it is required in the Md 1 semester.
If u dont get textbooks, it is OK becoz the school will provide the electronic version of all the powerpoint lectures and I think some of the required textbooks also. But having a hard copy always helps.
We had a canteen before, but currently it is closed. there are about 17 current premed-4 students that will be joining u guys next semester in md1.
Expect quiz in anatomy every Monday. U have to go to the hospital every Wednesday for 2 hours for dissection.

    Good luck!

Hey new students , I have been on the island for about a year and a half now and am getting ready to leave the island soon for new york. Immigration does take time just make sure you have all your paperwork and get all of your lab work done in a timely manner it will speed things up as well. If you guys need any help finding apartments please let me know I have lived at almost every apartment complex on the island. Ones that I do NOT recommend are the Blue Village ( wayyyyyy to noisy at night can never study or sleep!!! ) or Punto ( the owner is a crook!). Cars, you most certainly will need one it is kinda hard without one especially come rainy season. They are about $300 upwards to $800 per month to rent a car. Your best bet honestly is buying one. If you have any more questions about anything student life, island life etc.... please don't hesitate to ask.

On the other note, I am leaving the Island december 14 and am in dire need to sell some things fast! I have a car and a ton of household items, school items, books, scalpels #10 11 15, grill, fans, etc.... Everything I have, car included for $3000.

My apartment will also be up for rent as well 1 bedroom in down town oranjestad 5 minute drive from school or 10-15 minute walk all inclusive for $800 per month.

If you are interested please let me know. I am willing to negotiate. My email is my username at gmail

Thanks so much! and good luck in MD1!!!!!!

Hey . You can get all the indian food you want here. Ling and Sons the main grocery on the island sells everything spices rice you name it!! and Also there is an Indian restaurant called the Taj Mahal and the Tandoor ( a students parents own them) and there are student specials everyday for $7.00 at the Taj Mahal. the food is amazing.
If you have any more questions please dont hesitate to ask.
