Most important thing before you come to XUSOM

    Advertisements

    Hey,

I'm a current student at Xavier. I'm just about to start MD1 but I've been here from PM1. I answer a lot of questions from incoming students and the most important thing you need to do before coming here is:

    1) GET IN YOUR IMMIGRATION PAPERWORK!!!

too many of my friends don't get their permit in time of have permit issues so they CAN'T GO HOME!!!! (or they risk getting deported on the way back)
DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

also, make sure you call the school and ask them what you should say to the immigration people when you come for the first time (based on your paperwork status they'll have you say different things.)

Really when i was there like 80 percent of the students never got there student visa. Usually u will have to lie to immigration each time you go back home and will take a risk of being deported. I believe when the new owners bought the school they no longer reimburse you if you are deported.

Things are different now, student Need to listen to the admissions staff BEFORE they come to the island & rush to submit all the paperwork they can it'll only help you out. With the new aruban government getting immigration is a Ton easier than before, like nite & day & the costs have decreased by 90%! BUT there were a couple Md-4 students deported 2 semesters ago because of immigration & a few students that don't go home to visit family at the breaks because they know they won't get back in- It's so simple, just submit the paperwork the school tells you to, call the school once a week or so before you get to the island to make sure everything is in order, & mail/fax AND scan up & email your paperwork to the staff to make sure they have copies & copies, they're good team just ummm 'busy' sometimes. Simple- also for current students make sure to mark the date you were approved & have an alarm pop up for renewal in your calendars because the school (as great as it is) is bad about reminders for renewals after 1 year.
