Windsor Vs Aureus University School of Medicine.

    Advertisements

I got accepted at Windsor and Aureus for Premed starting in May. I need some honest and truthful inside information about the standards of the school as I'm leaning towards Windsor. Is it advisable to use the school housing? Is anyone going at the same time? Are books available at the school or I should buy them and bring them with? Your advise is very appreciated.

windsor has too many horror stories (loan scams, drunk/gambling professors...). try aureus (or better), try to pick a school with more accreditations ..
caam-hp.org/assessedprogrammes.html- windsor is not accredited by CAAP-HP
--- i am a prospective student as well, so cant say much .. except goodluck to us all haha

entering any caribbean medical school is a risk at this point. by 2020, or 21, most of these schools will shut down. it will only be a few of the big-name schools that have operated within the US licensing guidelines that will be allowed to operate (or at least send students to sit for the USMLE). this includes, SGU, Ross, AUC, and maybe SABA. AUA is in thin ice from what i have heard, otherwise they too would be the fifth school that may be safe in the future.

otherwise, windsor, atlantic, cmu, etc. are all in danger of losing accreditation by 2020, if not sooner, because they are not meeting minimum requirements.

what the user above has posted above about CAAM-HP is also another thing to pay attention to as windsor has not been approved by this board and will not be eligible for an approval visit until Spring of 2016, i think.

so advice is to stay in the US or Canada and get admission into a medical school there. if you can't, then the chances are not much better of becoming a doctor through the caribbean as these schools will likely shut down or become more expensive. not worth amassing that much debt with a shut down school MD or no MD at all.

^^ Sometimes you have to make sacrifices in life to achieve your dreams. I know for a fact that Windsor and CMU are not accredited by CAAM-HP. They still produce top quality graduates into residency programs across the U.S, Canada and India. As of 2023 if you graduate with an M.D in the Caribbean it HAS to be accredited by CAAM-HP/ACCM (exception Saba) and the NCFMEA. Also, I am subscribed to a channel on Youtube that coaches IMG's and one went to Windsor and the other Queensland in Australia and landed residencies in F/M and Psych. One is at Baylor and I can't remember the other placement.

IMG Coaching is the name of the channel if Interested for any IMGs' looking for great leadership and coaching skills while studying medicine abroad. Don't be discouraged by the above user PnS11 biased comments.

I will also add that Windsor University and Aureus University are listed in the World Medical Directory (WFME/FAIMER). However, are not accredited by CAAM-HP or ACCM.

PnS11 is not biased; Windsor has consistently failed to acquire necessary accreditation. The fact that they have yet to acquire CAAM-HP certification, even after three attempts, should have a prospective student asking questions such as why? how? etc. The whole point of a CAAM-HP certification is to show that the school meets a set standard of education(matching SGU, ROSS, AUC, and SABA) and is internationally recognized. There is a reason why schools such as SGU or Ross are held in such high regard and one of those reasons is that they don't fail basic accreditation processes. To any prospective student reading this, don't be cheap with your education and please spend the money if you have to.
