If you have not taken Step 1 yet

It is advisable to get a move on it.

Administration has passed on a memo to students that students that have not taken the exam within nine months of complettion of their fifth semester as subject to being expelled from the school.

You read it right, pimp. Expelled.

Current students, get in touch with your class representatives and find out how to get the extension.

Also, a girl was pulled from my rotation because Windsor has stopped allowing students to rotate without a Step score.

    Just a heads up.

Good. It's this type of laxity that helps give us a crap name. I have people from my semester who still haven't taken step 1, and I'm in my first year of residency...do the math. Trying to explain this fact to a Ross or Saba student leaves me on the receiving end of some incredulous looks. You know how much time a US student is given for step studying? Maybe a week. If they're lucky it'll line up with a week or two of extra time off school. I took a month off and that was it.

That being said, at least let the girl finish the current rotation or give her money back.

They're not messing around. I believe they've already barred new students from joining rotations without a Step score. It is possible she slipped by the 12 week limit and Windsor finally caught her. No one really asked and things like this really tend to perpetuate more rumors.

But she has gone back to Canada it seems

Also, I used your previous posts a lot back in 2012 so you were done with the island around mid-2011. Funny story.

I was told students that finished MD 5 on December 2012 or before have already had their files closed and will be let back on a case by case basis. So your classmates still dragging their feet? Probably already been sloughed off Windsor's GI tract and right out the back.

Thought this would be an adequate post for those students who were never informed personally in regards to the new changes by the school and provide you the honest truth.

First: the dreaded phone call. Some may have received them and some may have not. The person designated to call you is Natasha Sachdeva. She never completed her MD5 but was given special permission by the school to receive her MD earlier than her classmates. She is now formally known as Clinical Director. She decides whether you will be expelled or not. She was reported to the appropriate medical licensing boards recently by some students.

Secondly: you may be called to come in to see Dr.Sandeep to assess whether you are eligible to write the step 1 exam or not. This is a new addition to the team. He may or may not ban you from writing your step. This is the point where most students decide whether to transfer out of windsor or not.

Thirdly: There are plans to close Carbondale and open up a location in houston, texas. This was done in part by 2 students: Natasha Sachdeva and Anosh Ahmed.

That is all the information I have at this point in time. If you feel that it would be in your best interests to transfer then now would be the time. I am unsure which schools are best suited for you but it is always good to look around to see your options. I can say that CMU is not a valid school and is under investigation by multiple medical organizations worldwide and in the US so be warned. I'm sure there are numerous schools you can decide on.

I graduated from windsor previous to these changes and am now working in internal medicine. I took that extra time to prepare for my usmle step 1 exam (approx. 1 year).

My goal of this post was to inform all students and for their best interests.

I think closing Carbondale will be good step if in Houston they expose students to real clinical experience. Since they have rotations in Houston it seems it will be better over there than Carbondale. I don't understand why you are suggesting transfer, let the students decide for themselves. So far I have not heard any one being expelled.

You need a new hobby, pimp. You know exactly how this process goes down but you "got out a year ago?" Really? "Working in internal medicine?" For real? As what, a janitor?

You sound like you made this post for with a vendetta against two students and made it personal. I bet you're mad these students will probably match in next year's match and you'll be "working internal medicine."

I've seen Dr. Sandeep at the Chicago clinical meetings. He has no administrative power over who can take the Step or not. He is just a tutor.

The butt hurt is strong in this post. I'm pretty sure you're one of the students Windsor may have kicked out when cleaning house. Although I have heard from classmates that still have not written the Step that the school is still willing to work with students to get a timeline for studying and taking the exam within a month or two.

Windsor has done some bait-switching in the past with their rules, but this time they actually seem to be sticking by students, so long as the student is willing to work with them.

Also, you don't use full names on the forums. You clearly have something against these students.

Thank you for the information HonestTruth.

I will inform people in my community in brampton about this. I'm sure there are families here with students that attend this school or plan to.

Noticed you are currently doing residency in internal medicine. Sounds like that 1 year to prepare for step helped you.

PnS11 it seems that your use of the english language is inappropriate and not professional to a former Windsor Student. In the future maybe constructive criticism is better than personal attacks.

Was just looking at some caribbean medical schools on valuemd. I prefer to work in NY so I will keep looking.

    cheers
