    Canadian Students Read Now

WARNING to all Canadian IMG's participating in US Match - Re: J1 Visa and the Statement of Need!

This was shared by many Canadian classmates on Facebook. I am not sure if it is just something to create commotion or if it has some merit.

Read it and see if it's something that should be made aware to students, especially those still on the island that are from Canada.

Plenty of Windsor students have been screwed over by prerequisite credit hours, loans, and a multitude of other things. Don't let this be another reason, especially that far and deep into your education.

I knew it was hard but not this hard. You have to check a quota to make sure you still have a job waiting for you back in Canada? That is some crap.

Well most specialties are on the needed list; especially the primary care ones and there is no limit on the SON (Statement of Need) for these specialties e.g. FM, IM, Psych, Peds. Be careful to not apply to the combined specialties like Med-Peds, Med-Psych, FM-Med etc as you will NOT get a SON for these specialties and not applicable to get a J1 (MCC does not recognize them as approved residencies). Unless you are applying to some rare specialty like cardiothoracic surgery etc, I don't foresee a problem getting a SON from Canada. When you match, apply for the SON the very next day and it shouldn't be a problem.

    WINDSOR UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

To all past and present Windsor students, if you have experienced any of the following as a student, send a message to this profile and a lawyer will contact you if you are eligible:

    1. Tampering of official transcripts (i.e. missing grades, changing a passed grade to a failed one, etc.)

    2. Grievances on your student records when you are not at fault.

This is currently a class action law suit being assembled, all names and events will be kept confidential.
