    Windsor to Australia

    Advertisements

Can a Windsor MD practice in Australia?
I was looking at the 2014 match list, and it looks like a few students are writing the Australian AMC exam, instead of the USMLE's/MCCEE.
I've posted a similar thread in the main forum, but Windsor is of interest to me solely due to financial reasons (i come from a low income family).
There are several "pathways" to practicing in Australia. Does anyone know what pathway an Windsor grad would go through? From my research, it seems that if you clear all the steps AND do 2 years of residency, you could go through the Competitive authority pathway. Is there a pathway for the Windsor grads (or any Caribbean grads) to take, given that they're Unable to match to US residency?

    Thank you in advance!

Does Windsor follow any of the guidelines of the UK, when it comes to medical licensure? Because I believe Windsor is no longer UK accredited. So that could be an issue.

Your best place to start would be to find out from the Australia medical board themselves. Do not trust what the school says either on the website or over the phone/in person. You can try finding out when the next Open House is and try and get answers that way. But the best way is to look for the requirements from AU first. Then verify, not using the Windsor website, whether Windsor possesses those accreditations.

You may not be well-off, but I think upper-tier Carib schools, like SGU and Ross, offer loans. They do for US students but I'm not sure for Canadians, if you are. If you're serious about medical school, you'll look to that route as well.

The accreditations I speak off supersede your residency and Step scores, I believe. Meaning if Windsor isn't approved, even great Step scores and residency spot many not be able to help that.
