    How difficult is Windsor?

    Advertisements

What proportion of the class is left by the last semester?

Does Windsor just pass everyone mostly?
Or do they make difficult exams (like Ross, AUA) and cut 30% of the class after semester1 and so on and stuff?

What is the passing score on comp for you guys?

If you're looking for the easy way out, best to stay where you are right now and continue down that path.

That is a horrible question to ask if you're going for a career in which you hold people's lives in the palm of your hands.

If you think coming to windsor is the easy way out of those "difficult exams" from Ross and AUA, you are terribly mistaken. We have several (more than 50% fo teh class) fail every semester with the same understanding so you either try hard or dont bother coming into medicine.
There have also been incoming of a few very good professors and i feel there will be a turnaround soon so hopefully that will increase the difficulty of the exams, if thats what youre looking for... *rolls eyes*

Unless you are just looking to get the MD title, you should be looking forward
    to acing the USMLE.

Now I know why students ask this question. I am not saying that is your intention, but
a lot of students get complacent and they have the attitude that I will relax and explore the island,
enjoy the beaches and basically go on a 5 semester cruise in paradise BECAUSE,
"I will study for Step 1 Later, when Kaplan or whatever review course comes around."

This is faulty logic, because no matter how long you review, whether its 4 weeks, 4 months, or 4 years,
you will struggle just to pass the USMLE.
Data shows the longer you wait to give Step 1 after Basic Science, the lower the score.

Why is that ? Because Kaplan and other review programs are exactly that, REVIEW Programs.
You cannot learn in 5th semester, what you were expected to learn gradually brick by brick
building up that foundation of knowledge and linking concepts and storing it in your
permanent memory after you see it in lecture, discuss with your peers, link it with
other subjects and finally integrate it all together.

That's because the USMLE questions can be secondary, tertiary and a complex mixture
which tests your understanding of the rationale behind the concept.
And sometimes, the answer choices after reading a page long question, can be from literally a to z.

If you just memorized a concept, you will most likely get it wrong, which is what I have seen
with a couple of friends in medical school. They studied for a year or two for Step 1 and they still failed or barely passed.

It's okay, do-able. Just hard to do some stuff in 3 months but ultimately do-able. Final exams are easier than the NBME's, I can't speak for other unis though.

I'm not trying to relax and be lazy and get through medschool.
I asked because hundreds of people study every minute at ross/saba and still end up failing.

That's why I ask what windsor's pass rate is.
Are the exams are hard as ross and such places where they fail 50-100 people each semester?
Cause some people deserve second chances and have slower study methods.

....these people clearly do not know how to study or have a serious learning impairment.

You would be better off practicing with "tougher" questions at a real school like Ross and then having a shelf exam as a final more than you would coming to Windsor.

If they fail out of Ross or SGU or whatever, they are doing something wrong. Not the school.

yup. people will fail out of every school. Someone posted in a different thread that many people failed out of Windsor.

Which is a "good" thing, for you, since all students are not created equal. IMO, only the ones who deserve to fail, will fail.

No one truly fails out of Windsor. They just get sick of taking pathology 6 times in the span of a year during retake periods and think that the school is screwing them over. They run to Atlantic, who welcomes them with open arms. And then proceeds to screw them again. You can always ask how many residents they've matched.
