    Windsor SOM

    Advertisements

    Hi,

I was wondering whether Windsor students can work in the following states?

    Florida?
    Georgia?
    Tennessee?

    NY no?
    CA no?

Is there a list of Windsor graduates who are either doing residency or who have finished residency?
Does Windsor still offer MS and PhD degrees?

A friend of mine from AUA told me that Windsor is banned from many states.

I'm a Windsor student. But am I better off transferring to another school?
I did get admission to AUA in the past--but due to personal issues could not attend there.
This is perhaps my biggest regret in life.

It is possible to transfer to AUA with Windsor credits?
Or maybe Sint Eustatius with Windsor credits?

    Thank you
    Dr. Strange

Not going to AUA may have been a missed opportunity, but going to Windsor is the biggest mistake you could make. Believe me -- been there, done that.

I would recommend if you are already a Windsor student then grind it out as a Windsor student unless you are in a truly desperate situation. Being a Caribbean graduate is a drawback in of itself and transferring to another school raises a red flag and makes your application look weaker to program directors. Things keep changing and it appears that Windsor is headed in the right direction to expand its network.

Well, the bad part is...I was accepted into AUA. But due to some final issues didn't go there.
Windsor has a poor reputation and is not accepted into NY, CA,TX, or FL.
I am from Fl so cannot work there. No choice now.

I went to Sint Eustatius and then Windsor. If I were able to transfer again to AUA for clinicals...would it look poorly to have three schools on my transcript?

TX- I know someone who called the board and asked, we are allowed to obtain a license in Texas

FL- I interviewed there and inquired with the program prior to going whether or not licensure would be an issue. They said definitely not, they wouldn't have tossed an interview my way if it was an issue.

TN- I was told by a faculty member of University of Tennessee who's had experience in dealing with residency recruiting that Windsor is allowed to obtain a license.

CA and NY - No. Not until you've had a license in another state for a number of years (I believe it's 10, but not 100 percent certain), then you can transfer the license to CA. There are also a number of states who follow the CA approved list (like Indiana for instance). I don't know the full list of those states, but I'm sure a ValueMD search would bring it up.

Thank you. Did you say that you can work in Fl? I actually called a Windsor admissions rep. She said that we cannot work in NY, CA, TX, or FL.

    Thank you for the information.
If I were to somehow transfer (I've already been to two schools), does it look poorly to have three schools on my transcript?

Residency and Full unrestricted license are 2 completely different things. NY and CA for sure a NO for residency. Do residency somewhere else, can then get full licence in NY right away and after so many years like 8 or so for CA.
with regards to TX and FL not sure about residency but a YES for license once completed residency in another state. Can someone else confirm about TX and FL

Man, im getting anxious. Word of advice guys, stay on top of your LOR because its a hassle, I am still waiting on 3 more LOR to be uploaded and those attendings are taking there sweet time lol.

It should show up almost immediately. I've been involved in uploading them before for other physicians and it should be instantaneously. Certainly not days.

I believe they need to submitted in .pdf format, and not simply as a .doc from Word. Check that with the attending. It just simply will not accept a non PDF upload, so it's not like it accepts the .doc only to reject it later when it realizes it. The attending should know right away.

It's also possible they uploaded it to the wrong person? I forget what all they use to identify what applicant the LOR is uploaded to, but there's an ERAS number and maybe a name and another ID number as well. He could have fudged up any one of those.
