Retake Exams for this upcoming February

    Advertisements

    Hello Everyone:
I was just wondering if anyone currently attending 5th semester in the U.S. could tell me when the next round of Retakes will be given this upcoming February. Will it be at the beginning of February or the end of February, and if the schedule is already out when will the Pharm retake be given. Thanks!

Where are you right now? If you are in Houghton Lake or Carbondale you should already know the schedule.

Relax. They are not from your class, if that's what you are trying to figure it out. It's probably a student that needed to take time off for personal reasons and has an exam to clear.

As mentioned above, your exam will be on Monday February 24th and will be at noon or 11AM, as it will be at 1PM on the island. That you will have to verify with the Michigan or Carbondale center, whichever you choose.

I know that the material is packed together so it's tough but do you guys have any specific tips for avoiding retakes and studying for Windsor blocks while also studying for the USMLE and doing well on NBME's?

Nope. If you're honest to yourself, learn the material from Kaplan videos and by doing questions. Remember our whole UWorld discussion and when the right time to use it was? Watching Kaplan and learning from it are two very different things. Pay attention and take notes while watching the videos. Annotate your First Aid book with that info and annotate First Aid with tidbits from the QBank answers that are not mentioned in First Aid.

The school does inexplicable things when it comes to grades. An exam can be ridiculously easy and still 60% of a class can fail it or an exam can be ridiculously hard and 90% of the class will still fail it. No one knows for sure how and why admin chooses for some people to pass and for some to fail. Most of the time, it is in benefit of the students and even someone with a 55% will be generously bumped up. I don't know about students being bumped down to fail on purpose, but some students are not..."chosen"....to be bumped up while their peers are.

It's like Russian Roulette and you don't know if it'll hit and when, but it certainly doesn't hurt to still learn the information properly for the boards regardless of having a retake or not.
