Windsor's Match Rates revealed by NRMP

    Advertisements

    chart 15

st Kitts Nevis and you have the summation of Windsor, MUA, and UMHS's match rates.

not looking good since UMHS and MUA have a better match rate than Windsor's.

    Edit: new link http://www.nrmp.org/just-published-n...cal-graduates/

granada is SGU. dominca is Ross. st. maartin is AUC and antigua is AUA.

Those are your big 4 schools, and they are the only ones with more people matching than did not match.

the numbers look worse for canadians (non-us applicants)

    Thanks for sharing!
For Non-US IMGs, looks like Antigua < Dominica=St. Kitts or is there something I'm missing? Could this be due to their high attrition rates?

It's because those medical schools do not accept 19 year olds without college hours.

Well total candidates that applied from St. Kitts were 329 ,out of which 153 got residency. UMHS had 43 people matched in 2013, MUA I could find 2012 list quickly which was 54. So even if 60 people matched in 2013 from MUA it still leaves 50 matches for Windsor.
I don't know how many enroll and then graduate from Windsor(that can be calculated as well) but I will not call it a dismal number.

I guess that's true. Percentages are usually misleading and it's better to look at the number of people applying and matching. Windsor has a much larger number of students than the other two schools. Every semester we get about 10 transfers from each school and Windsor certainly doesn't dismiss students for failing. So it could be safe to assume that each year, there should be about 240 candidates.

Assuming each class is over 100 and then about 20% of them not even planning on taking the Step because they wish to practice in St Kitts or Nigeria or UK, and you have about 80 students that plan to take the USMLE. Three semesters a year and you should have about 240 people taking the Step a year.

I'm not sure what pass rates are, but let's go with the IMG average and say about 70%. So 168.

If Windsor matched 50 students (they did not, but we don't the exact number, though I heard it was in the 30's) then that's about a 29% match rate. (50/168)

I guess if Windsor take quality students their match rates will improve. They have this philosophy of giving a chance to everyone for a low tuition. It may change in future and when they start doing that match will increase. I hope admin is reading this and they make some changes , in organization ,professionalism and quality of students, if they want to earn respect for this school.

Its now time for schools to be honest about numbers after this list. Other schools that boast of 90 percent match rates have 65% per year max. I can't say anything for repeat applicants success so...

And what exactly happens to people who don't match? I was thinking of going to Poland and the #s are abysmal there as well (37%). However, there are still a fair # of FMGs (Non US) matching.
