    Step 1 Score Release Timeline

    Advertisements

Hi everyone! I posted this on the Step 1 Forum, but that forum doesn't seem to have much activity, so I figured I'd post here as well. A friend of mine has scheduled her step 1 for December 4. Since I've already taken my exam, she asked me how long it took to receive my score. I told her it took me 4 weeks, but it can technically take up to 8 weeks. I told her if it takes 4 weeks, then she should get her score by Jan. 1. But, then I remembered reading about the people at ECFMG taking a break during the new year? Like a fews weeks off at the end of December into the beginning of Jan. Is this true? If so, if she takes her exam Dec. 4, when can she expect her results? Also, since results are released on Wednesdays, say she has scheduled her exam on a Thursday. Would she start counting the 4 weeks from the Wed before, or the Wednesday after her test date? I hope that question makes sense. Thanks for any help you can give.

that time period is a bit tricky but I don't think i've heard of that NYE time off thing.

I actually have a question for you, since you took your step recently. when did you finish MD5 and when did you take your step? I ask because some people on here are unsure about the penalty for taking too long.

A classmate of mine actually missed the deadline by 2-3 days (I'm not 100% sure). She had to pay a $1,000 fee and fill out a re-activation form. She tried really hard to get the school to budge, but they showed no leniency. I can't give you anymore information than that, sorry. I would just ask someone in the US office directly. As***y handles all the USMLE test stuff, so she should be able to answer your question better. I've e-mailed her a handful of times, and she's always been prompt in responding to me.
