How many months after MD5 can I take Step 1?

Can a student take the step 1, 7 weeks after the completion of MD5, or would the student have to wait 5 months after MD5 in order to be able to take the exam because of the 24 month rule?

    Check your PMs

There is no 24 month rule. The rule is 2 ACADEMIC YEARS, don't let students and even faculty tell you otherwise because they have no idea

It all depends on you and how good you are on your basic science. Some take less then 6 months some takes at least 2 years. This is all about how strong is you basic science.

Does the school send you back to the island (to repeat med school) if you have crossed a certain time without taking step 1 or rotation?

no, but i do know of a student who just last year finished his second time through windsor because of failing the Step some time back.

the time line is a bit fuzzy, but he was here many years ago, possibly when the campus was still in bird rock. left the island, took the Step (possibly twice even) and failed it. he came back to windsor and did basic sciences from scratch.

whether this was his own decision, or an agreement with the school to sponsor him for his third and possibly final attempt at the Step, there has been at least one case where a windsor student came back to windsor to repeat basic sciences in order to take the Step after failing it.

he did not have to do md5 again, however. but that's irrelevant, really.

Wow, that's crazy. I know the school will continue to sponsor beyond two times so I'm pretty sure that his his decision alone to repeat basic sciences. However, the 7-yr rule is in effect for most states. By the time you take step 1, you have to pass all the licensing exams within 7yrs

yes, this is true as well. this includes having done basic science within those seven years, correct? Or is it just the Step1 and 2?
