    question about books

    hey guys,
i just have a questions about the books situation..i know you could either buy ur books from amazon or whatever or you could give the school a deposit and then borrow the books from the school. now, if i that do, will i be able to take the books let's say on housing and return it by the end of the term or i just have to use them in the library? i need some clarification..

also, books are expensive..should i buy them? if yes..how?

    thnx in advance !

The books you listed are the ones I was referring to. I would bring those and not worry about the ones Windsor offers and you will do just fine.
Windsor students need to whine less and study more

alright I will buy the books listed in the books review thread.
i just have 3 more questions:
1- where do i buy them from? amazon?
2- do i buy the md1 ones or more? ( shipping to st kitts is expensive?)
3- would it be confusing if im using these books to study and the professors are saying study chapter 4 to 6 from the book they assigned?

    Thank you so much !!

The professors don't give specific pages to read like in high school or college. They just go over a specific topic and it's up to you to look through it and learn it. So any book will do really. Like I said, the only useful/decent book for MD1 is embryology, the other two are absolute crap. So I'm using my own from undergrad, and they're working just fine. I bought mine from amazon, all the BRS were about 30-35 each, Netter's anatomy flashcards for 35, Langman's Embryology for about 30.

    You should get:
    -BRS anatomy, physio, and embryo.
-Netter's anatomy flashcards (they help, but it's up to your own discretion)
-Langman's Embryology (gives better pictures than the school book, good to compare with)
-An anatomy atlas. Before I came down I bought a brand new one with real pictures, it's amazing and really helpful.

Alright, I found 6 BRS books for 150 bucks ( all paperback)
    GROSS ANATOMY
    BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES
    PHYSIOLOGY
    EMBRYOLOGY

    CELL BIOLOGY and
    PATHOLOGY

is this a good deal? do I need to buy other books, or i can just study from these?

    Thnx

I would pass. For Pathology all you need is Goljan. That is the pathology Bible. You dont need the newest editions either. Not much has changed in these subjects. If they are brand new and the newest editions, then it would be a good deal. Remember you can always sell these back to new students as they come in. Look on eBay - I just found that deal for about 1/3 of the cost.

just purchase your own books from either amazon or another online source which sells them for cheap. That is what I did. Yes, u can rent them from the school for $300 big ones, but knowing the school they will give you a hard time about getting the deposit back and/or they will blame you for any small mark or scratches on the book even if u didn't do it, and you will not get you refund back!

Plus, the books are useless and outdated. C'mon, look at the embryology book they are still using.

Do not buy BRS cell biology and embryology.... they are just loaded with material not necessary in a review book....for those subjects the books that school gives you is more than enough...maybe get langman's for embryology.... I did not like BRS anatomy either and got myself a Moore's text of anatomy... I liked goljan better for pathology(I had both the BRS and Goljan...)

I heard that for the final in embryo you're going to see alot of genetics (which the school doesn't teach us). Which the BRS embryo book is really good for. For all the internals the book they give you is good enough. But I bought the BRS one to be on the safe side.
