Just wanted to know the Undergad requirements for the MD program. I understand that AUA requires:

AUA requires at least 90 credits of college work, but strongly recommends that applicants complete their degrees at an undergraduate college. The coursework should include the following prerequisite courses:

    • One Year (8 hours) of Inorganic or General Chemistry (with labs)
    • One Year (8 hours) of Organic Chemistry (with labs)
    • One Year (8 hours) of General Biology or Zoology (with labs)
    • One Semester (4 hours) of Physics (with labs)
    • One Semester (3 hours) of English
    • One Semester (3 hours) of Calculus or Statistics

    and Sgu needs :

    Requirements

    North American Applicants:

    1. A completed bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required for direct entry into the medical sciences. A candidate may apply before completion of the bachelor degree, however, a candidate’s acceptance will be withdrawn if the degree is not obtained.
    2. The following specific undergraduate courses are required for admission:

One year: Inorganic Chemistry (General or Physical) with lab
      One semester: Physics with lab
One semester Math: Calculus, Computer Science, or Statistics
      One semester: English
The following courses are recommended as a preparation for medical school: microbiology, biochemistry, and physiology. Also, it is imperative that students have basic knowledge in the use of computers.
    3. The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT)
All North American applicants must submit MCAT scores. The SGU MCAT code is.

You need to have the pre-reqs in science courses: bio, chem, orgo, and physics. Best idea is to finish your degree and take those courses. To graduate from college you will need all the necessary courses to get into Windsor. Call the office in Monee and they can give you the info you need.

windsor requirements are similar to aua except calculus and mcat are not required. also i believe the minimum college credits for the MD programme is 60 credits. but as stated above its always a good idea to finish you bachelors or at least 3yrs of college before starting the medical school.

And as far as an updated website - I cant see that happening anytime soon. Maybe when the new auditorium is built and paid for. While I would like to see that happen, its going to be a while. If they actually spent some cash to fix some stuff up around the school this place would be pretty solid. But for now its seems all profits are going in to build new buildings and then maybe we'll see some interior improvements. Look at it this way. Once they start advertising and the classrooms have better accomodations, and there is a functional library - there will be a bigger influx of students meaning greater competition. Live the dream now and feel lucky to get in on the ground floor.

Also, as the university grows - more lecture halls, larger library, a better cafeteria - the cost of tuition will more than likely increase. With lower overhead right NOW, the cost of attendance should stay relatively low(er) for all of us (a very good thing!) Consider this a time to grow WITH the university. The Fall 2009 MD1 intake came to a total tally of 242 for roll call. Evidently, this school IS attracting more and more students with each passing semester. The good news is that they are in the works (within the next few days) of dividing the class into two groups so as to provide more comfortable classroom learning quarters. Focus on your studies, put 100% into this work, and stay positive! We are on our way to getting those letters behind our names... after all, that's why we are here on this island!
