    Total expenses

According to your experiences, is it realistic to attend to this school with a total budget of +- 12k/year (2 semesters)?

Does their financial plan (wich is supposed to cover ALL) Windsor University School of Medicine - About the Country is reliable and realistic?

    Thanks.

~8k a semester should be enough. also try to be savvy, get fresh vegetable and fish from the market, travel in groups to bring down cost per head, do groceries once every two weeks, pay tuition and registration fees on time to avoid late fees.

PS: The BIGGEST money saver is; study your butt off so you dont fail any course, so you dont have to shell out extra thousands of dollars for retakes. A student in my class reportedly spent over $5000 in retakes alone, thats a whole semester tuition.

I am trying to approximate my food expense on the island. How is the lunch provided by the school? What type of food do they give you? Is it healthy? Does it taste good? Is it enough? or do u need to bring more from home? Thanks.

Wow that is a great break down of expenses!
I noticed you stated 2 years in chicago and that is something I'm still not clear on. From the school website I learned that 1.5 years is done at st.kitts leading to 16 weeks of preparation for the usmle in the USA. It is followed by practical rotations at a US hospital. For how long is the US practical? My main question is regarding clinical rotations and the last 2 years out of 4 for the MD program from Windsor. After reading a few particular posts about Windsor I have been left quite alarmed. I read some students don't get to come back to the states from Windsor as it is not approved by the state they want i.e. NY. Is this true and if so, where do those students go to complete their clinical rotations? How does this coming back to the states process work and which states can Windsor students go to?

P.S. I am a Texas resident, any info on the process of coming back to Texas is appreciated.

    Thank you in advance!

After you finish your 16 month stint on the island, you'll go to Michigan/Illinois/Ohio for another semester. Then you'll take your step 1, you can take however much time you want off, up to 6 months (before having to pay a reinitiation fee to the school). Clinicals are another 72 weeks, not counting the time in between each individual one. You can do clinicals either in the states with the school (from what we hear most of them are in Chicago), or you can do clinicals on the island. Obviously if you intend to practice in the states or in Canada, going back to the states for your clinics is your best option. Windsor is approved in most states, with the exception of New York and California specifically. That just means that you can't do more than 12 weeks of clinics in NY or CA as well as residency. Regardless, you'll most definitely want to go back to the states for your clinicals, being a Texas resident I'm sure you want to practice in the US.
