    Please help! Clinical Rotations

    Advertisements

Hello, Im really lost/confused to where to start clinical rotations. Can any windsor student/senior help answering these questions and please share your experience.

    1) Which clinical sites are currently available? Is one better than the other?
    2) are there any exams (shelf exams) after each rotation? If so, what's the passing score?
    3) did you wait a long time or have long gaps between rotations?
    4) Does windsor require all cores to be completed before taking step 2?

Thank you for all your help

are you a transfer student? because if you are a windsor student that has passed step 1, most of this information would be available to you from the main office.

#4, no windsor does not but i think it's highly recommended you do take all your cores. a lot of students wait until graduation to take CK. i am not saying do that, but it is taken at all different times by different students but you definitely want to finish cores before ck.

Yes I am, The school didnt send me any details on clinicals. They def like to take their time to reply. Also, would you happen to know any info in regards NY approval? I was reading other students posts/comments on this topic but since im a tranfer student- I have no clue.

Thank you for all your help!

no ny approval and i doubt it'll happen any time soon. i had heard students say they contacted the ny board and were told there was a "moratorium" on new approvals. take it with a grain of salt, but I haven't seen any other schools gaining NY approval so either we all suck or there really is some sort of pause on new approvals.

yeah the school will take its sweet time. call the monee office "royal medical technical whatever" and ask to speak to clinical coordinators. dr. anosh or sandeep or something like that. they should expedite the process since the actual office doesn't deal with rotations that much, other than payment.

rotation sites are in chicago and houston and a scant few in virginia and michigan. the main sites are chicago and houston and i think atlanta is now slowly shutting down for windsor and they are being shunted to houston.

Thank you for all your replies and help. I wish the school was at least in the process of getting NY approval *sigh*
Have you started your clinical rotations? If so, may you please share you experience?
Im hoping i dont have to jump around many cities for rotations. Do you think its possible to stay in Chicago and complete all cores/electives?

Again, im sorry for asking so many questions.

yes you can stay in one city and do them all. or you can do as many as you can in one city and move to another to do the ones you want to do there if you have a preference like that.

i doubt a new york approval happens for any school within the next two years. and windsor won't be the first and it will likely be a school like umhs or mua or possibly even st james.

MUA is already NY approved though.
The only other NY approved carib school besides big 4/AUA is St. Matthews..but they're Cali Disapproved so it has it's own drawbacks.

yes, i was mistaken. i felt mua had NY but a transfer student once told me they did not and i guess i believed them and never checked back on it.

is mua cali disapproved? i know St Matthews is and is not eligible to come of that list. i did not know about mua. i imagine gaining a disapproval is warranted when a school may be dishonest or refuses to change curriculum or other requirements to meet cali's demands?
