    Requirements for graduation

    Advertisements

    Hey guys

So I'm nearly finished with all my rotations (finishing up my last elective now). I'm also working on my CK and CS. I should be done with both of them in about 3 months. Can I still apply for the exit exam and get my MD degree from the school? Are CK and CS required for graduation? I want to graduate ASAP so I can be eligible for externships.

As far as I know you do not need CK or CS in order to receive your degree, unless they have changed it since May '14.

Sorry to ask ashlee382, but how are you able to do an externship after you graduate? Just wondering.

If "externship" is foreign for "residency" then I don't think you can apply for the Match without a CK score, maybe even CS. Getting your MD doesn't require the Step, even, so long as you do rotations on the island. You can take your Steps after getting your MD.

If this is about the Match, you should have applied over two months ago for the Match next Spring. You don't need to have graduated in order to apply, but you will need to have graduated before starting residency.

I feel like your question is a bit odd and we're not quite grasping what you're saying.

Hey guys. By externships, I mean hands on experience at hospitals. Many hospitals offer them and they usually last 3 months. And most of them require all steps and an MD before applying. FYI, I got in touch with the school and the exit exam is offered at your nearest prometric center.

And is the exit exam Windsor's typical piece of cake exam or is it something official administered by the NBME? Because the way there is a comp of basic science and clinical science, I am sure there is something similar for both of them combined to be used as an exit exam.

Have no clue. I'm just using the same resources that I'm using for CK. Hoping that will be sufficient. Anyone take the exit exam recently?

Hey guys. So have some updated information about the exam. It consists of 4 blocks with 49 Qs each and is pass/fail. You can either take it at a Sylvan center near you or in Carbondale. I'm signed up to take it first week of January.

Good. Let us know how it goes. I am sure it has become more difficult, like basic science has from three years ago.
