    Clearance certificate for clinicals

    Advertisements

    Hi all,

So I took the Step 1 on the last day of the 6 months allowed. I was told I would not incur a $1000 fee for reactivation as long as I wrote the exam within the time limit. However, there's a Clinical Clearance form on the Windsor website that states it needs to be handed in before the 6 months are over to avoid reactivation (I have not yet handed in the form).

Does this mean I will be charged with the $1000 fee?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Probably, yes. You have 6 months of inactivity in the school's eyes. Until you hear back and get approved that you passed, you're technically inactive past the 6 months. Meaning you have to pay the money to be reactivated as a current student. You could try to argue this if you have emails proving they told you it was okay.

    Thanks for the insight!

gre, did the school end up making you pay the inactivation fee? I have a friend who's currently studying for step 1, but she has also scheduled her date for the last day of her 6 month deadline. I'd like to give her a heads up in case she has to pay the re-activation fee.

If you apply for an extension around the second or third month of your six months, they usually give the extension with no penalty or questions asked. They just want plenty of notice ahead of time, because apparently moving you from the "cash cow" pile to the "barren cow" pile of paperwork takes two months.

With enough time before your deadline, you should get the extension.
