    2013-2014 residency application

    Advertisements

I figure Windsor student can come together and help each other with residency application. Right now i don't care abt license, just wanna get residency.

Reading this form so far has been very confusing.

Example 1 - From what i read and found out we can apply for residency in TX. Green book rotation don't come under question until licensing. We are eligible to apply for physician permit. The only exception is some programs criteria as " you should be eligible for License"

Example 2 - PA--from what i understood now, they don't care about rotation anymore. Until your school approves it they are ok with it.

Example 3 - DC - if the program accepts you they don't care about green book rotation for residency.

Example 4 - Arkansas will accept you for residency. They don't required residency permit. Windsor student got match in FM last year.

Example 5 - ND i email the program since we are not listed as a disapproved school we can apply for residency.

Please correct me for mistakes and update with new rules. Lets help each other out and if a Windsor grad or resident can help us get an interview that would be a plus too.

Only a few states I can comment on from personal experience.

You're correct about PA. They used to care about greenbook but don't now.

I did my Transitional Year in MI, no issues there. There was another Windsor grad in my class, great guy. He didn't have an advanced position lined up but managed to get a PGY-2 spot in their categorical IM program. Couldn't be happier for him, he worked really hard for it.

I'm doing Neuro in NJ now. Again, no issues with my residency / training license.

That's about all the first hand info I can give ya. Good luck =)

Thanks Boognish for a reply. i thought i would get more reply but oh well.

Yea i know a kid from windsor who is license in NJ and PA.

I got a question about MI. To get training license i think you send a form to windsor and they send it back stating if ur core rotation are done in teaching hospital. How strict are they on this rule haha i can tell you all my rotation were some how affiliated to green book hospital but none went straight through the program director specially the ATL one.

    UPdate on more states;

NY: i am working on this one but not 100% sure yet. Some Eustatia and xavair kids are doing residency in NY and i know they are not accredited by NY. Also they did all their rotation in states so i am trying to find out how they got match. Once i got a reply back from program director, i will post it here.

Alabama: They follow CA rule but we can apply there since we are not disapproved.

Virginia: Training permit rule states core rotation should be green booK and program director should sign if you were there. Any one know more information about that please share.

Maryland, Iowa, and West virginia: You can apply for residency they dont care about rotation.

Gorgia = started to follow CA rule but only for licensing. if you are a non approved school i think they make you do an extra year of residency.

Also Illinois , can someone share the light on this one. I know windsor kids are doing residency there so how hard was for them to get a training license.

I don't think Alabama follows CA. Illinois requires green cores, AFAIK.

Iam talking about residency haha I will worry about license later.

So guys my update on NY:

I was in touch with program director from NY who took carrib student from school not accredited by NY. According to them they will take you for residency because NY does not required training permit and it's the hospital responsibility for the resident they hire BUT LIcense might be different ball game. My advice if you got connections in NY got for it.

I know this is different then what people have said in the past.

To ps11 IL residency training permit states that u send a copy to your school for them to sign. Either dean signs it stating hospital are affiliated with the school or if they are not then the school attaches our evaluation forms we got from Physician and states they were teaching hospital. I guess i wanted to know Windsor student who got residency in IL had any problem with approvals.
