    Clinicals and Step 2

    Advertisements

Can someone post when they took Step 2 CK or when is the best time to take it? Is it better to take before applying for match? What about CS?

I recommend taking Step 2 after surgery and IM. I believe those are the most intensive subjects on the test and definitely the two rotations where you'll learn the most. Taking CK is a must before applying. CS you SHOULD take before you apply, but you don't have to. So if you want CS done prior to your ERAS, you should take it the May/June/July of the prior year. And depending on the site you take CS, you'll have to sign up a few months in advance.

So let's just say you're applying for the 2014 match. You'll want to have signed up for CS in this past Jan/Feb to take the actual test in May/June/July, in hopes of getting your results back before September when the match opens for 2014. Make sense?
