Need advice about setting up greenbook core rotations w/o school

    Advertisements

    Hi,
I wanted to set up my own greenbook core rotations w/o the school since I plan to get licensed in TX. However, every ACGME hospital that I have contacted (and I have called many) has said that I can only do electives but not cores. Are there any current students or graduates who set up their own greenbook rotations that could please tell me which specific hospitals in which cities/states allowed them to set up their own greenbook core rotations without a school affiliation??? Please PM me or post here. Also, did you have to get sponsored by a doctor or set up the greenbook core directly through the hospital GME office? Please help!

texas state medical board overlooks all education requirements if the applicant is board certified in his or her specialty. Also, it is 99% unlikely you will be able to set up all cores on you own much less greenbook ones.

Franklin Sq hospital in Baltimore, MD was the only hospital that did not say no but they didnt say yes either. They told me the application process was about 3 months. You just have the mail in the proper information and hope for the best. I'm not sure if they will say yes. Many students do rotations at Washington Adventist in Maryland but I couldnt get a respond. When I finally did the cost was about $450 a week because they work with NCIME.Its not greenbook though.

I know you can licensed in Maryland no matter where you do the rotations. I contacted and spoke to someone in detail. TX as long as you are board certified you can get licensed and they dont look at education for residency either. You can work in any VA hospital as long as you are board certified in one state.

    Thanks for the advice Cardiomegaly.

If anyone else has had any experience setting up their own core rotations, then please post about it as well.

I think you can set up rotations at Washington Adventist (not sure if they are greenbook) but it costs approximately $450 a week when you do it on your own. At least that was the price they gave me. Look up NCIME and contact them for more info.
