Prepping for Step 1 and clinicals set-up

    Advertisements

I'm new to this forum - prepping for the step 1 at the moment and planning on taking it in September.
Meanwhile, I've been researching and reading a lot about clinicals, esp. on this forum.
I must say I'm worried but I'm also hoping that it will go smooth.

I was wondering if those already in rotations can shed some light on a few questions.
1 - Do we have greenbook rotations at all (since I've read a lot of confusing posts - some saying yes and others no)?
2 - Is it possible to stay in one state for all rotations?
3 - If a third party is arranging for our rotations, do we have to pay anything to them in addition to the tuition we already pay to the school?
4 - Are Illinois, Tennessee, Atlanta, Virginia, the only states where rotations are available? If not, what are some others?
5 - How do we make sure that the rotation we are being put in is not just an observership?
6 - Any recommendations on how to plan out rotations so as to avoid being stuck in longer wait periods between rotations? (1-3 weeks is not too bad but anything longer causes too much wasting of time)

Thank you for any information that you can provide on my questions.

Im not truly sure if all the clinical rotations are greenbook or not. I have not started clinicals but I plan to this Sept. Im not sure if people at Windsor rotate at Jackson Park but it is a greenbook hospital located in Chicago IL. I know some students from other schools have done many rotations there. Supposedly you can do most of your rotations in Atlanta GA or Chicago IL (based on VMD posts) & what other students have told me. I know there is a third party arranging rotations in ATL. We pay $1200 per 12 wk rotation to the third party in ATL. I plan to rotate in ATL to avoid having in spaces in my rotations. According to the people at AMG (third party) the rotations can be back to back.

Hopefully some of the students currently rotating can add more information.

    AMG better?

    Thanks for the info.
I spoke to someone I met who is starting her 3rd rotation in Chicago, IL (don't know where).. she said that the rotations are legit and not just observerships. Just thought I'd share this for those who are concerned.

Is AMG the better third party to use? I'm also a little worried about these!

People have said good and bad things about AMG, AICG and *****. I dont know if they are truly good or bad. I dont know of any other companies in ATL for rotations except AMG. At least I havent heard of any students talking about anyone else
