Can I find out if my rotations are Green Book?

    Advertisements

I've got a pediatrics rotation starting March 12 in RML Hospital at Chicago with Dr. Ta**th*. I've also got a FM rotation with Dr. G****m at Loretto Hospital at Chicago. (Reply if you or someone you know is going to be in these!!!)

Do you know whether or not these are Green Book rotations? How do I find out?

I tried looking at the ACGME website, but I could not find these rotations, and did not get a 10-digit rotation number from the clinical coordinator (didn't know at the time to ask).

    Thanks so much, guys

I don't think either of those two are greenbook as they don't offer residency programs.

generally if a rotation is with a specific person and not with a residency program at a hospital, then it is less likely that its an ACGME (or greenbook) rotation.

i would find out if there is an ACGME number

Just so you know there's no real 'bluebook'. It's either greenbook: The hospital (not an affiliate) has a residency in the specialty you're rotating in. Or it's no-book: The hospital doesn't have a residency. Pretty straightforward.

If it's not on the ACGME website, it's not greenbook.

well, that's not entirely correct...AOA (ie DO residencies) are not "greenbook", but they ARE hospital based ...they have been historically called "bluebook" residencies, though, unlike like ACGME programs that are actually listed in a green covered book, are not necessarily in a BLUE covered book.

I have heard two definitions for bluebook rotations. One person said it was a rotation that is under the "family medicine" umbrella and another person said it was a hospital with an osteopathic residency

the family medicine umbrella makes them greenbook, so long as the FM residency is an ACGME residency...but remember not all states (ie Texas) recognize greenbook by umbrella.

Thanks for the information....thats good to know. I guess thats why so many people do rotations at JPH in Chicago. According to its hospital they have several rotations under the FM umbrella.
