A few questions about Windsor grads status !

    Advertisements

    Hey all,

My first question, is a Windsor grad automatically licensed in Saint Kitts and Nevis to practice Medicine.

Second question, I've heard that there is like a final exam prior to graduating and that it's an internal Windsor exam. how many of those who have completed their rotations and all, actually pass this exam? and what happens to a clinical student who fails the exam. if you could elaborate about the coasts involve as well as the academic aspect I'd appreciate it.

thanks in advance for your help,

Well it seems you have to pass the Caribbean board exam and then do a 2 year internship and then you would be eligible to practice in St.Kitts or any of the Caribbean islands......

Im fairly certain its more or less another way for them to collect money and use the students like ATMs. When you get to the point of actually graduating Windsor, I think you are just about finished and would like to forget the last 4 years. That is why we dont see too many grads on this board filling in the blanks.

The exam is pretty much what you learned through clinicals, its 100 questions. I believe you need a 60 to pass as well..Also, you need to have an exit interview with Uncle G as well. From there you have to pay like $500 for a graduation fee and also testing fee for your exit exam.

    CARICOM Licenese MDs

    CARICOM License
    Two options:

    1. You will have to be ECFMG certified with ACGME training (North American Residency over 1 year)

    2. or take the CARICOM Exam & do one year rotating internship in CARICOM

The $500 fee is hilarious to me. You make it all the way through, pay all this money out of pocket as there is no attempt to get any lenders, and then they stick you with one more charge. Its like leaving the island and you have to pay to leave. At that point you're just ready to be done with them. And why the final exam - I can understand students who dont take the USMLE - but if you're already taking the CS and CK for the Match, then why the extra test? Oh right......more money. Gosh what was I thinking?

Hey guys, thanks for the insight...

I think this forum is very important, and it helps us help each other regardless of what the Universities do or fail to do for us.
so I want to thank y'all for taking the time to answer my questions.

is there a prep course that gets you up to date for the internal exam? and also what happens to those who fail it? can they repeat the exam? how many times and what are the coasts involved?

the reason I'm asking about the prep course is that the teaching level varies between Hospitals and even internally between departments. so you may have a wonderful clinical education in IM but an inadequate one in Ped's and so on.

just wanted to understand if Windsor makes sure the "playing field" is even prior to the exam/Step2. by handing out guidelines and prep material prior to their exam.

thank y'all for answering my questions.

--No windsor does not have a prep course for the exam...i have not taken it yet but from when i talked to students that took it they said format is similar to USMLE just easier...i am not sure if any students fail the exam...
Even if teaching at different hospitals are different you basically learn the same thing so dont worry...
