Can we do all our cores in AZ?

    Advertisements

Just out of curiosity, can we do all our cores (3rd year rotations) in Phoenix? Looking forward to any responses from those in the know or who have been there, done that. Thanks ahead for any information you can share...

AZ is not set-up by the school....you have to apply to be accepted. But remember you can do the same at any hospital that accepts IMGs/FMGs...in any state. The problem is that students are too lazy to apply else where...so if one student does rotations at a hospital then everyone does them as well.

Apply to a hospital near you...its the same amount of work.

Can someone who is currently waiting on rotations answer a few questions? Are you only asking for rotations in specific cities, or have you made it clear that you are willing to travel all over the US? My understanding is that students who wish to do rotations only in a certain city are the ones experiencing wait times. If a student is willing to pack up all their stuff every 4 to 6 weeks and move on to somewhere else, can they stack up their rotations right after passing Step 1?

I don't know of too many hospitals that take students into CORE rotations who's school:

    1) has no affiliation with the hospital
    2) is an international school

If anyone has any leads please let me know. In addition, which hospitals in AZ are IMG friendly for core rotations?

What Ive started doing is going state by state for Surgery and emailing every single program asking if they take international medical students for clinical rotations. I plan on doing the same for every other core until I find a few that actually say yes. Thus far its a bunch of rejections.

Ugh. Easiest solution is to not allow anyone who has not passed step 1 to proceed onto clinicals. It's that easy. With this said, I know it will never happen because too few people pass step 1, and thus, too few people would make it to clinicals. I know of some people who haven't passed step 1 who are in clinicals or are about to start clinicals, and I have to wait for clinicals, even when I passed step 1??!! ***??!!

ive been doing the same for a week now. most programs say they do not accept students from foreign schools. all the programs that do accept them are already taken by sgu, ross, auc, etc. basically we are screwed until windsor starts putting up capital to buy more spots
