I passed! Here is my experience:

I found out earlier today that I got a 210. I called my program director and she gave me the good news. I have never felt more relieved in my life. I had a pre-match contract on the line so it feels so good to get this exam out of the way. Now I can focus on residency. In retrospect, I am certain that studying for this exam before residency even begins will significantly help me throughout the next three years. In the end, this exam may prove to be a blessing in disguise.

I was initially a quiet member of this and other USMLE forums. Then I became active as my exam neared. I don't know the exact breakdown of my score (as I have not received my score report yet), but I felt that CCS went well. All of my patients improved symptomatically, but in three case I was not given the opportunity to discharge the patients. For example, after I ordered a surgical consult for one of the patients, the 5-minute window appeared.

Either way, as many of you know, I studied hard for the CCS cases and I practiced every UW CCS case on the software. If you practice placing orders, memorize the primary prevention guidelines, and order the appropriate counselling at the 5-minute window, then it should go well. Also, I printed out my 100 CCS Golden Rules and read through it on Day 2 just before starting the CCS.

The resources that I used were:
    K Qbank (74%)
    K Step 2 Lecture Notes
    UW Qbank (58%)
    UW CCS
    Crush Step 3
    FSMB Practice CD (73.6%)
    Aster's Notes

I studied for a total of 10 weeks. I did the exam on back-to-back days (without a day off in between). I was mentally exhausted after Day 1. I went to my hotel room, watched some television, ate a big meal and then passed out. I woke up refreshed for Day 2, which was significantly easier than Day 1.

Looking back, I could have studied for another three months and probably would not have done much better than I did. In my opinion, the key is to be well-rested and completely focused during the exam. I brought earplugs and blocked out everything around me. Every question should be treated as if it was your first question. As you get near the end of a block, it is tempting to get lazy and start skipping sentences or guessing, but do not fall victim to fatigue. This is a test of endurance just as much as it is of knowledge. Bring energy food with you. Drink fluids throughout the day. Sleep well the night before. Once Day 1 is completed, do NOT dwell on it. Focus on Day 2 because it is equally important.

And, of course, trust in God and know that He is with you. And just remember: "This too shall pass".

    Good luck everyone.
