    Step 2 CS in Phili

    Advertisements

For those who took Step2 CS in Phili: is First Aid enough ? Is there a telephone case and if it is how does it work: does the telephone ring as you enter the room, do you have to dial a certain number or you simply have to pick up the phone? I have my Step2 CS exam at the end of Jan. Any input or advice would be great. Thanks

The orientation given at the center just prior the start exam explains exactly how this works.

I watched the CD. In a case of telephone case we don't need to dial any numer. Just push the yellow button. But do we have to pick up the phone or just sit near it? I watched the videos and the indian doctor wasn't picking it.
Also I understand that otoscope speculums are disposable but I didn't see where can we find new ones or the SP will install the speculum for us and once we are in the room the otoscope has everything in its place?
Yes, I know that are little details, but I just don't want any surprises in this exam.

I took the csa in chicago and had one telephone case. There will be instructions as to what you need to do. You just pick up the phone and push the button when you are ready. I took a maybe 1-2 mins deciding what i would ask. The person on the other end will only answer the questions you ask, so kind of be ready with your questions or else there will be a long pause. The rooms are just like any other exam room with otoscopes and everything else you may need. Most patients don't require it though, I think i only used a reflex hammer, tuning fork, and a cotton swab to test for sensation. Your patients may be different so be prepared. If your patient requires you to recheck blood pressure, then you will need to do so. I think first aid is sufficient and more than enough. Practice, practice, practice (yes practice, ***** iverson) with another person.

    I took mine in Philly.
I had no telephone cases, only one case where the parent was presenting complaints for an infant.
I can't give you specifics - it just felt like an exam that's it.
I didn't think anyone was unfriendly or biased, all the patients seemed very professional. I cought one patient off guard when I wanted to do a full neuro on her (she was complaining of hearing loss) and I couldn't check her peripheral vision because she had retinitis (I think that wasn't in the script - she seemed surprised when I wanted to check that)
Other than that pretty much what I expected.
Still waiting for my result though so I can't really say if the are discriminating against IMGs
    When are you taking yours?
