    Failed CS!!!

    Advertisements

I got my CS result last wednesday, and I failed. I would like to know if CS result plays an important role in obtaining interviews. I haven't taken step 2 ck yet. I only studied for just a week for CS because I work full-time as a nurse to find money to pay for my tuitions. I want to apply for 2012 match, but it seems that it won't be possible. My step 2 ck eligibility period is nov 1st to jan 31st. Also, the earliest date to retake CS is in January. Can you please give some advices? Thank you in advance.

    Update: 04/25/2012

I PASSED CS WITH HIGH MARK WITH ALL SUBCOMPONENTS. TO GOD BE THE GLORY. I got the result today (04/25/2012).

Failing CS will have enormous consequences on your ability to obtain a residency. No reason to sugar coat this. Why in the world would you only study for one week?

Have you already graduated? Where from? Do you have US clinical experience? How did you do on Step 1? These are all things that will come into play.

I think you can pretty much forget about 2012. Go ahead and apply, but don't hold your breath.

    @drdetermination

dont worry take cs after 1 month preparation...being a nurse it wont be much problem for CIS/SEP...I want to know in which subcomponent you failed cs.

Regarding cs retake go and give by sept ending and later you can give ck by december 2011 so that you can match 2012.

DONT follow negative fellows...EVEN WITH CS FAIL many got residencies.
Failing step-1/ck might effect badly but not cs exam because cs exam is not perfect exam even in the view of some PD's
CS exam is something where we also need luck.

BE positive and go ahead...tell me your email ID and i can help u in getting cs date with some suggestions.
    bye GL

    hi
    im sorry tohear about this
but dont worry so much abut the what the other person said
i asked a director of residency during my clincals how bad this was becasue my friend didnt pass first time and it scared me and he said it was not a a filler process so they wont block you out on one fail, alot of people go through things in theri life during the exams and it can happen, i know a guy from harvard who failed cs becasue he thought he was so great so failing is not limited and it is not judged as harshly as we judge ourself, best of luck keep it in prayer and you will do great.

Nurses work 3 days a week. I know some that completed entire Masters degrees in those 4 days off.

Think of a better excuse when you get asked about it during residency interviews. "I didn't study enough" is a terrible excuse. A better one would be "I didn't focus on time management that was compatible with the CS format."

Thanks Axiomofchoice. Only God can predict the future. I decide to apply for 2013 instead.
