I passed - you can too!

I am posting this pretty late, but just to make people, especially foreign applicants, feel better and for them to know what to expect......the CS is not that tough!..........provided you can communicate and go through the motions. I think going in there with a big smile on your face and greeting the patient is the best start! I botched my very first diagnosis and 2 other patients but it turned out fine. I took it in Chicago.

It was a very gloomy and rainy day but I kept my spirits up and went in there thinking no matter what the outcome will be I will make sure I give it my best and give it with utmost confidence and organization. Part of this exam is also about testing how well you handle yourself through a barrage of patients and non-stop workload. Obviously there will be many days as such in your professional life. So why think of this as an exam? Think of this as you seeing YOUR patients in YOUR clinic. I handwrote my patient note as I type relatively slow. I made sure I had all the sections on the note labeled first and then quickly filled them all in with patient Hx, Differentials etc. etc. At the end of the day it turned out to be an enjoyable experience. I went back to my hotel afterwards and treated myself to a nice Chicago pizza. And, no I had no idea whether or not I passed. But does it really matter or help when you do that AFTER the exam? So, the whole point is that prepare hard for 3-4 weeks and then take the exam with confidence. Again, it really is an easy exam but practice, practice, practice and I am sure you shall PASS too!

    Cavaletti

The only courses good at SGU were Pathology and Parasitology...of course that's just my opinion. But for the CS I really prepared myself by reading First Aid for CS and Bates. That's all you really need.
