What is the first line and second line treatment for Generalized tonic-clonic seizure

    Advertisements

I am asking this because in kaplan notes it says Valproic acid is first line and in UW qbank it says phenytoin. Second line is lamotrignine in Kaplan.

For partial seizures Kaplan says carbamazepine and phenytoin are first line. And, second is Valproic and lamotrignine.

    Hi there..
as far as i know carbamazapine, phenytoin
unless there is some side effect where carbamazapine will not be first line, like the guy is hyponatremic causing SIADH, carbamazapine makes it worse...or pregnancy pheynytoin is contraidinacated in...i hope this made sense, sorry for spelling mistakes my hands really hurt today i can't type
    cheers
