It depends on you... if you've done everything that you could and studied all that you could, I would suggest to take the test -- if you don't, your going to get bored, start forgetting info and so forth and that's no good... on the other hand, if you feel that you didn't study all that you could and could spend some more time going over stuff, I think it would be wise to push it off a little... BUT remember, your scheduled at the last of october... that's kinda pushing it.. already, with that test date, you will get your results at the end of november/beginning december and some residency programs stop interviewing at the end of december... since you say you didn't have good step 1 scores, getting into competitive programs may be difficult since you have no step 2 and your step 1 is rather weak (based on what you said)... sooo you may want to take step 2 to show them that you did pass WHILE they are deciding on candidates so they can put you in that pile of "did pass step 1 and 2" rather then "at risk" candidate..

remember also, that the majority of people who take the actual test and NBME, they're scores are usually higher on the actual test compared to NBME...

You still have some time to review..
ALSO note, NBME 3 is suppose to be most like the real test, so that score isn't so bad... NBME 4 is suppose to be harder then the actual test.. from the past (via friends) like I said, people scores have been around 10 points higher then what they got on NBME 1.

I hope I wasn't too confusing. Good Luck, you'll be fine... just remember too, when it comes to taking these tests, we students always want to push it back when it comes close to the test date and when we do, coming out of the test, we always think to ourselves that if we had taken it two weeks earlier, it really wouldn't have made a difference... SOOO bottom line, don't panick!

85 is a good score...most programs consider that as competitive. You have 15 days left till test day -- that's roughly two weeks -- sounds to me that you are ready, just a little anxious which is normal -- two weeks is plenty of time to go over stuff and review... I'd say take it -- especially since it's kinda late already... you'll rock it. I gauranty that when you walk out of the test, you'll be thinking to yourself that you should have taken it sooner because no matter how much more you spent studying, it wouldn't have made a difference... GOOD LUCK!
