    guideline to study step 2

    Advertisements

I am totally unaware on how to approach step . I looked at kaplan books totally different format from step 1.
I am in the middle of getting videos and books. I know for step 1 I had to read a book 3-4 times to nail it, how about step 2?
Is kaplan books and uw questions good for now.
I got about 4 months how do i manage the time? any suggestions from anyone? Would really appreciate it
    Thanks in advance.

I am studing the kaplan notes and at the end of every chapter I do de UW. I took little notes with funny quotes for every case in a notebook that I carry with me all the time to remember the facts.
I heard the videos are good, lets try to get them.

i got vids, they are OK....but honestly...Conrad wastes too much time making jokes....but is good at explaining best next step, best initial, most accurate type questions which are lacking in any prep book I've seen yet....anyways...I think kaplan notes have too much nonspecfic filler poop and NOT enough emphasis on important info...to distinguish dz & tx
Kaplan is basically like Robbins...w/ tons of overlap and not enough distiguising features...

I'm gonna finish the notes but, I would put more emphasis on B&W, USMLE secrets, and UW...as I'm going through them at the same time and making notes.
    Just my 2 cents...

First aid give you facts, but in the real test you get to nail some algoritms.
So, I think do the usmleworld after reading a book with notes. (kaplan or FA)
Do it chapter by chapter. Do not finish the complete book to start the UW bank.
Read the books, then do the questions, take notes, in every category.

I have heard bad things bout FA for step 2....I have the PDF version...Ill prolly try it out..but so far I haven't really looked into FA. Crush is similar to USMLE secrets..its by the same author (Adam B.) so either book will do.

Kaplan notes and videos plus USMLE world and reading the explanations is what I used.
