Pass Program for Step 2CK-Is it worth considering

    Advertisements

All this talk about the Pass program in Chicago for Step 1 exam. Has anyone looked into how well they prepare you for Step 2 CK compared to any of the other comparable review courses. I was having this argument with another student as to how effectice can a program be in preparing you for step 2, when they teach all the students taking Step 1 and 2 together. How exahausted would you be after sitting in class from 7-3 daily and having to hear about step 1 material for 4 hours before any of the focus for your step 2 examination was addressed. This is my impression of how the course is conducted...anyone that has taken the program for preparation or heard otherwise disagree??

Agreed, pass is a ripoff. I had friends that went for step 1 and it didnt help them much. I think for step 2 just use master the boards/step up, uworld and kaplan videos for weaknesses.

I am currently studying for step 2, I did pretty well on step 1 (248). There are soo many resources out there but I intend not to make the same mistake I made for step 1. I used too many resources but im narrowing it down to only 3. I'm using first aid of course, usmleforumland , and usmleworld

Avoid PASS program unless you have been a practicing doctor in another country. There is a systemic approach on how you are tested and PASS program ignores that.

”Are we ‘Cooking hamburgers, here…’ ?”

    (Online REVIEWS?)

    RE:

I do not know about you…but an IMG’s passage of the USMLE with a first attempt high score, for almost anyone with reasonable (1 year) US clinical experience, creates a 70-85% chance of matching in a primary care residency in the USA. Failure, will seriously reduce those numbers…We are not ‘looking for hot dogs or hamburgers here…, ‘ in order to get their (Amazon?) ratings. The people that write very unusual and unverified information on these fora, appear to not have any “idea what they are talking about...“ (‘blind leading the blind???...’).
They also fail to realize that given the above-described importance of the USMLE, and clinical experience with good letters of recommendation, that these credentials are very likely (add Spanish speaking, and research, and grad degrees etc) to lead to jobs that will start at $130K, and escalate very quickly-with 4-5 years of practice experience- to $180-$240+k per annum in total compensation packages.
In light of the above overall circumstance, I strongly advise you to view an IMG- friend’s (Now a PGY-V) ‘real story-‘ 187,387+ views-(FULL-BLOWN WORK-UP)- blog with the keywords’ search terms provided below (along with a topical index). GL and GB YOU..
