    Step1 and study time

    Advertisements

How is it that I see people saying they studied 3-4 months @ 4-5hrs a day for the step1.

Don't they have to study 4-5 hrs a day for there basic sciences classes at the same time? There is now way you can study 10hrs/day after going to classes from 8am-4pm. Are people doing this? I can only go for 6hrs/day and then my brain turns to cabbage.

    no

Normally there is a few month break (april-june) between graduation and step 1.

Now, I'm planning on reviewing for step1 as I study the basic science courses - in addition to the class notes, text books, etc I'm going to have a step1 review book handy to cross-reference everything. And study 4-5 hours a day for a couple of months before taking step1. The step1 score is critically important (think MCAT important) in getting a good residency. The other steps much less so - you'll already have a residency (hopefully) lined up before you take step 2.

    whoops

Sorry, I was thinking of Step 2. But, the idea is the same, you take a little time (the summer?) and study for the test.

I'd still have a copy of FA and the review books during MSI and II though.
