Brothers and Sisters,

I got so much personal e-mail in my ValueMD personal mailbox too--asking me to keep posting. I WAS freaked out because I don't want to anger the NBME, but I spoke to a lot of authorities and they said my posts were legal and the NBME will welcome even my posts as long I don't repeat exact questions or stuff I saw.

That said, I will say and ask a couple of things.

1) Obviously, writing originial questions is hard and time consuming, so please use the knowledge to help others.

2) After taking the test I obviously know what the NBME wants you to know so that is why I can write relevant questions. I am making sure that NOT ONE SINGLE POST OF MINE IS IN VIOLATION OF COPYRIGHT! So don't accuse me of wrongdoing. Again, even though I REMEMBER most of my exact questions and have talked to a lot of fellow students and teacher on exam content, I WILL NOT VIOLATE NBME rules. However, I cannot help write a question WITHOUT MENTIONING THINGS LIKE "THE HEART", "CANCER", "BRAIN TUMORS", AND SO on! I know the NBME cannot copyright PHYSICS, General Chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, etc. But, being a teacher, I think I can really really be of service to those that are struggling over STEP 1 because the test is a MONSTER, and there are not good question banks out there. I will be careful to completely post ORIGINAL QUESTIONS, and not repeat anything exact thing I saw or know to be a bonafide USMLE question. If I recall a question on the RA pressure, I will ask you about LA pressure, etc. If I know the NBME stressed female gyn tumors in a question, I will ask about another common tumor. But by doing my bank of questions, YOU WILL BE PREPARED AND WILL KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT.

For example, YOU KNOW THE STEMS ARE GOING TO BE CLINICAL AND YOU KNOW THAT THEY ALWAYS ASK SECONDARIES AND TERTIARIES. They hardly ask DIRECT questions. So that is the kind of questions I am trying to write.

Really, I am trying to do a good thing and educate and help. So I ask a couple of favors from you.

1) I repeat, please don't think my questions are in NBME violation, they are original scenarios I am making up.

2) I am not going to post exam content but exam concepts. I am not against the NBME, but just trying to help spread the knowledge they are already wanting you to know. So be assured that doing my secondaries are the HIGHEST YIELD and MOST EFFICIENT, I am putting a lot of thought into the questions so that none of them are too detailed or too easy. You know that the USMLE Step 1 is so varied...in other words, some of the questions are REALLY EASY, and SOME ARE IMPOSSIBLE. The key is to make sure you don't miss the easy direct questions.

3) Keep doing my questions by covering up the bottom part of your screen and REPEAT the questions over and over. If I am going to spend my vacation writing questions, then I really want you guys and gals to USE them thoroughly. Don't read them once and forget them. You will forget. So do ALL the HY posts daily if you can, over and over.

4) I really think that if others like Step1 follow my lead, we can create the BEST TEST PREP here on VALUE MD that is FREE for the entire world! People won't have to pay for testing services.

5) One of the reasons I am doing this is because right now, I have to admit I am going through a very difficult time personally because of something that I am ashamed to discuss. Could I ask some of you to pray for me, just pray to God that the "issue" I am dealing with will resolve. I am very spiritual and I believe God will listen. Please help me.
Again, please pray for me. Please don't forget, I am suffering now.

6) Study ALL the time, promise me.

7) One last promise you MUST grant to me is that NONE of you will give up if you fail Step 1 USMLE. PROMISE ME! Gather all your strength to pass the test again and help the world prosper and be kind to your patients and others. I sound cheesy and mushy but I am very serious here.

Thanks guys, your words are like sunshine. I am almost crying right now, it is embarrassing. My mailbox is filled with well wishes. I am saving and loving each of them. I really am not doing this for praise, but the thank you notes I love because I am going through something bad now, and my mind is hoping for encouragement. I really really do love you all. By the way, my mailbox in VMD is getting full, I will read the messages. Also, Steph and askeptic and some of the others who I was not sure like my posts wrote me and said I SHOULD KEEP ON POSTING and that people misunderstood their words. So now it looks like I have a green light from everyone.
