    what makes it a carcinoma?

What makes it a carcinoma or I should say: what makes it malignant?

    1. Differentiation: well- or poorly-
    2. atypical mitotic spindles
    3. variable growth rate that will go along with the differentiation
    4. usually be from a single cell (so do benign tumors)
    5. increased telomerase activity
    6. is there invasion? Malignant tumors invade whereas benign tumors don't
    7. check for metastasis--lymph nodes, blood, bone,...
