    GOT MY SCORE RESULTS TODAY

    Advertisements

I took step 1 for the second time on Jan. 19 & I got my score
results today. The Oasis trick was correct in my case when it let
me register a new exam. Well gang, I failed it as abysmally this
time as the first. I have wasted, for all practical purposes, a
    whole year.

I want to thank all of you who were encouraging to me.

My wife and I after seeing this score, have decided there is no sense
in taking it again. For me, it's not worth it to try a third
time. This is not a pity party!!!!! I am stating
plain facts. As most of you are aware, I already am a doctor -
doctor of chiropractic and medical doctor. We both think it is
time to open our office & concentrate on getting a practice up
& rolling. So, this is where my efforts are going to be
directed. I am out of study mode & will be selling my Goljan
& Kaplan stuff that I have accumulated to study for this exam.

Once again - thanks to all!!!!!!!! I want to wish all of you all
the best this world has to offer and that you may be successful.
    May God bless you all!!!!

Oh, one thing future doctors - be kind to chiropractors because not all
of them are quacks. They do serve a valid purpose for spinal
problems and musculoskeletal dysfunction. In children, who are
facing having the tubes put in their ears, many a light chiropractic
adjustment of C1 will prevent them having this surgery. The
adjustment on little guys is done using a spring loaded device that is
gentle, effective and specific. It's much safer than general
anesthesia. Anyway, enough of my ramblings. I hope that I
haven't offended anyone with this little bit of chiropractic
    information.

First of all always look on the bright side of life!
God knows & we will when (if) we come to Him what was & what wasnít luck for us.

    Ifyou
still arenít sure to take that exam again or not, take a rest andthan
decide. (Those video lectures are really helpful). But, donít justtake
it to prove yourself & your family that you can do it cozeveryone
can & those ones who really love you will love you nomatter did you
    pass that exam or not.
But you are md (with orwithout that usmle
exam) & you work in medicine right now. If Iwere you I wouldnít
even try to bother with this studying.
Who cares what someone who doesnít even know your job thinks about it? You are helping people and thatís fact.

Wish you all the best in your personal & professional life.

    PS:If
you have your practice in NE US region maybe we will meet coz mywife
has some cervical spine problems & needs chiropracticís help.

    GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION

    DEAR 46 XY

I am in Georgia. What you want to look for in a chiropractor is the following:
    1. You don't want 1 who only spends 3-5 minutes with you. This
type is doing what I call generic manipulations. Everyone
    receives the same adjustment.
    2. You want to find 1 that attempts to locate the problem spot & then tries to "fix" it to restore normal motion.
    3. You want to find 1 that makes your wife feel better in her c-spine
after 2-3 manipulations. I describe this to my patients as
climbing stairs. After each adjustment the neck problems
    diminish.
    4. All spinal problems depend on what is causing the pain and the
recovery time and the treatment time are directly proportional to this
    cause and effect.

If you have any questions, email me direct.

    God's speed

    Hi George!

Thanks for replying. I saw your yahoo address & put it in my favorites. Although I have some qs about your field & the cervical spine, coz my exam is too soon & those problems arenít so acute I hope you will use that same yahoo address in the future.

If you donít mind, according to yours both degree & family Iím probably younger (28) but still struggling with this exam. I was an excellent student but this exam is really tough. It took me a lot of my time & still I feel like I do know just a bit. I mentioned my age just to put accent that itís also important how many years went since Iíve graduated. I do remember a lot but still there are so many details & for every subject we must be prepared like we are going just to take only that exam. It would be much easier if I could take it in several parts, coz when I masteries one subject simultaneously forget almost one third of the others.

If you really decide to take it once more time think about those video lecture coz on them a professor of particular subject put the accent on important things. Still there are almost 200 hours of those lessons (some arenít so useful) & itís wise to go through them 2 times. After revising video lectures stick with the notes & do a lot of qs.

But most of all Ė do you really need that exam & why do you think it would make your life easier?

    Wish you all the best!

WHY I DID A MD DEGREE

I just found your reply. I have been a chiropractor for many
years, but have noticed that many of my patients got better in
about 50% of the time when they were receiving both meds and
chiropractic manipulations. What made me decide to get the md was
my feeling that I could handle the musculoskeletal problem intotal
without having to co-treat. I found the mds to be adversarial
when they had to co-treat. They tended to discourage
patients from continuing their chiropractic care and would "steal" them
only to send them to a physical therapist (pt). Now, I have
nothing against a pt as they are doing a job. A pt uses
exercizes, stretches, and modalities in their care of the
patient. They do not manipulate, which is where their profession
lacks 1 of the healing facets. In Georgia, it is not within a
physical therapist's scope of practice to perform a manipulation.
My chiropractic license already covers the use of modalities as I am
trained and certified in this area also.

Anyway this was my plan of action and reasoning behind getting
into this lunacy. I just felt that with my musculoskeletal
knowledge and the medical aspect, I could really do my patients some
good!! What revolutionary idea combine the 2 approaches.

I woke up this morning felling that perhaps I would take the exam 1
more time this year. I am going to alter my study methods & look at
the 2004 Kaplan videos several times. Also, I think that I'll try
to find a study partner up here in North GA. The exam kicked my
butt in the genetics section & I need to find some understandable
material on this topic. I have the 2002 Kaplan books, which
do not do a good job in this aspect. I guess I need their newer
    version or on cd.

    Thanks-George
