    Advice PLEASE!

    Advertisements

I am taking step 1 next month. I just took UWSA 2 and did terrible 192. I really want to be in the 220 range before taking it. Is it possible? Can anyone advise? I started DIT 3 days ago. I am totally freaked out.

    Same situation

I took the NBME 2 and scored a 190...freaked out as well. Purchased the DIT yesterday but won't be able to start until Friday. I called DIT and spoke with a representative which advised to follow the program accordingly and should score in the 220's relevant to my NBME score. We seem to be in the same boat so I wish you the best. What do you think of DIT so far?

I guess misery likes company :)

DIT is OK. I mean I have gone over FA while I was doing Uworld. So, now doing DIT is good for cementing in FA (at least I pray it is...) Too soon to tell, i only started DIT 2 days ago...I am trying to work on weak areas identified from the self assessment.

Are you doing something besides FA? (first aid)

Sounds like we've done pretty much the same thing. FA and USMLE World. I have been over the Goljan 2nd edition RR Pathology 1 time but will put more emphasis on it this time around. I feel as if I know FA inside out but maybe DIT will reflect what I must be missing. When do you plan to sit for the exam? I'm probably going to try and get it in by early/mid Nov. and Step 2 before the end of the yr. Best of luck and keep me updated if you find across a magic window to raise your score; lol. I'll do the same.
    Take care

Hi, I plan on taking it next month aiming for the middle of the month. My window period is almost over so its next month....or....I dont know when. Which is why I have to boost up my score into the 220's by next month. I went through RR almost once. Do you think its wise to go thru it again? I am worried about the time...

I plan on going thru UWORLD again.

If you are already feel you know FA in and out, DIT may not be helpful.

Good luck to you too! We both need it!

I'm going through UW again as well, but to go through Goljan RR completely is way too time consuming...at least for me. I think possibly going through it and put emphasis on only what might be on the exam would be the best/time efficient approach. A friend of mine scored a 234 and strongly suggest G RR, but I just don't have the time. I started the DIT...seems to be bringing back things I've overlooked. I wish you the best of luck and keep strong with the studying. Gonna do another NBME in about a week so I'll let you know how that goes.
    Take care

DIT (Doctors In Training) is a 15 day course where Dr. Jenkins go over the FA in detail. The whole course is based on FA.

    Hi All,

If you find you still need help after going over all of these things on your own, I may be of some assistance. I tutor for the USMLE steps 1 and 2 and find that all that I have helped score 220 or above, which is ideal. If you shall need, especially as your testing time nears, please feel free to drop me a line at usmle1to1 @ hotmail. Hopefully we can work togather to get that score above a 220!
