    more and more confused!!

    Advertisements

IS it normal to feel this confused?? Its been 7 years since I have graduated, and now i am taking the USMLE step 1 for the first time (in feb). I have takened the live lecture of kaplan and it went great. I understood everything in class, and now am studying on my own and it just gets more confusing. I am doing questions from USMLE world and trust me the results are not good at all. What am I doing wrong?

There are lots of advice posts within the forum. Just keep plugging away. Regarding USMLE world some advice, I feel is good, is to take a few notebooks and write down questions you get wrong. Well, not exactly the question but the material from the questions you get wrong. For example lets say you do a couple of blocks of questions and you get 50%. In U-world if you use *tutor mode* it tells you as you are doing the questions the correct answer and why the incorrect answers are wrong. Write this all down in your own words and make an attempt to read it every night. I hope this helps you at least a little. Another small book which I personally think is good to review is USMLE secrets (second edition). Try to understand the material the questions ask instead of just the question, that may help bring everything together for you. Maybe some others will chime in with advice as well. Keep plugging away and good luck!!!!

P.S. do not be discouraged if you are getting in the 30% to 50% range ... just work on improving those results. Some people correlate the grades saying that a 65% or higher on USMLE world results in a good score on step 1. Just work on improving and be happy with the results you get as you do.
