September class tends to be larger since thats normal enrollment in the US

You can expect no more than ~70 in every other semester

Regardless which semester you choose, you will have the same amount of time and cover the same amount of materials. Good luck.

Doesn't starting in May give you more time to prepare for the steps?

I think starting in May or August doesn't make much of a difference, but I do agree with silverfox that you get done sooner; however, if you come down here without mentally prepared to learn then you would increase your chance of failing or not perform well. Good luck.

    may...

If i know better, if you start in May and you go through your program without any hiccups, I think you end up having about 4-5 months to study for step. if you start at September, you have about 2 months. But then again, this all depends on whether you pass all your classes on time; however, the september classes tend to be the largest class of the year.

can you elaborate on what you mean by 4-5 months of extra study time? because according to our schedule our my class that started in may 2010, we finish md5 end of 2011, step1 can be taken anytime during the year

if i remember correctly, at UMHS, the clinicals only start in June or August or something. meaning for you to start clinicals, you would have to pass the step. so if u were to end your semester in maine by december of this year, that give you about 4-5 months of studying time before you have to take your step to make that clinicals start date. if you were to start in september, you won't be done with maine until april or may, which would mean that you may have about one month before you have to make the clinicals start date that year. hopefully this helps.
