    Storage

    Hi,
    I would recommend a 2 GB or a 4GB USB Drive. Files are always being moved around. If you have a USB Drive, you can easily get a copy.
    An external hard drive is cheap. I would get 2 smaller ones (1TB or 500GB each) and put a second copy at a friend's house. Or, set up a web drive e.g. dropbox, windows live drive, carbonite, Mozy, because thefts on the island are rampant.

    QFT

    It was fast during the first year of op when there was maybe 80-100 kids in the whole school, but now that there are way more students in each class, bandwidth is really strained when everyone uses it. During my last couple semesters on the island, I only got some decent internet use once the majority of people left campus after 7pm or so. Any other time, and I would swear that the school was running some kind of dial-up setup lol

    Both are pretty useful, so you might as well invest in them.

    For your ethics class in md4, you have to print papers, so if you don't have the luxury of bringing your printer from state-side, then the next best thing is to have a flash drive handy so you can load your paper on the LRC computers to print out.

    Kaplan/PASS/goljian videos and assorted textbooks/review books/first aid pdfs are definitely floating around the island, so if you have an external handy, you can make that collection yours if you can find someone willing to transfer them to you. And, as said above, theft is kinda common, so if you back up some of your important med school stuff on your external, your life isn't exactly 100% over if some dude boosts your laptop.

    Right now, I have a collection of flash drives I've accumulated over the years (the biggest one is 16gb) and a 1TB external.

    I'm in md1 and I usually have one 8G flash drive in my bag and a 1T (way too big in size as well) external HD at home. Bring a couple of flash drives since they're so easy to lose and expensive to replace here.

    The 1TB is pretty good for the external, but if you want to maximize the carrying capacity of your flashy, you might as well spring for a bigger one (e.g., 16gb) lol. If you already got the 4gb, then oh well, it's not shabby.

    dude, how long ago did you get your 1TB? Mine's actually.... not that big, maybe a little bigger than the old 60gb ipod. Is yours that really huge, dictionary sized one w/ its own power supply? >.>;;
