Look over your personal statement and your transcripts. Any deficiencies you might have or gaps, be prepared to explain. Have some questions about the school or whatever you might want to know ready to ask them at the end. I think the general consensus is to be yourself and let your personality shine through. Good luck!

It is a literal run down of all the material you submitted. Grades. Extracurriculars. Research. Work experience. Personal Statement.

Then there are the general things like, strengths/weaknesses, why UMHS, future goals, why medicine, travel experience, difficulties in your life, etc...

You might want to practice describing yourself.

Takes about 40-45mins, although I think that is overkill for a phone interview.

Yeah, that just about sums it up. Mine was more like 20 min, but hey, that's just splitting hairs I guess lol

Definitely have a pre-rehearsed script going in your head and then just mod it as the questions come

All I got to say is they LOVE to interview...

So months back when I was OBSESSED with researching offshore schools, and since I'm in the NYC area I would go to every offshore presentation at different hotels and eat free food, listen to the way different schools spin their education, and then hit them hard with questions that are asked here on the forum. I remember at the Ross presentation I asked a bunch of questions about back-to-back greenbook rotations....and when the guy try to spin Dominica as this eco-tourism paradise, I'd ,in a diplomatic way, remind him what a 3rd world country it was....ANYWAYS...I'd also stop by different offices that were in NYC. AUA has one in Wall St. and UMHS has one on the far west side.

So for kicks I stopped by UMHS to pick up pamphlets/brochures/and just be a nerd in general. So I get ushered in to a room with a counselor, mind you I haven't applied yet...I'm shown a slide show about UMHS...and then I'm thrown into a full blown interview...It was craziness...there I was on the west side, chomping on a gyro, wearing my grubby clothes, and then whisked away to an UMHS interview.

Anyways the counselor was very nice and for all the questions I had that that she couldn't answer, she put me on speaker phone with Mr. W down in St. Kitts. I tried drilling them about their rotations but they were pretty tight lipped.

Anyways...don't worry about the interview...If I passed it with flying colors without APPLYING, in grubby clothes, with tzatziki sauce on my breath, and bits of NYC gyro meat in between my teeth...I'm sure you're good...

They ask very standard questions. Strengths/weaknesses, volunteer exp, clinical exp, why UMHS, etc etc...

    Peace out.
