Do the letters of reference have to be submitted in a sealed evelope, or can we use Interfolio? I only have one science professor LOR, plus two others LORs from other volunteer/work supervisors. Is that a problem?

Do we get our birth certificate and high school diploma back? Or does the school keep them?

tallk to your UAG representative/ counselor to make sure that you are comlpying with everything. it is my understanding that they need to be sealed and two science teachers but it might had changed for the time that I applied. I dont think the school would permanently keep documents like the ones that you mentioned.

    ackackackack,
the problem with putting all your wisdom in one post is that you will still have to write it again when someone asks the same question.

Intead of quoting something that appears on the same page you should cut and paste your post from previous threads.

Karp, that was your 100th post. You were supposed to write something special for it

Anyway, congratulations on being a real member now. Welcome to the club!

I could cut-and-paste my old posts, or someone could just read them, or if they are very intelligent, they can go to the top of this page, where it says "search." From there, one can enter a word and search my posts

It is just freaking Amazing what you can do with a computer these days. If you go to "search" put in "acgtacgtacgt" on the right, then put in "birth certificate" with quotes like that, on the left, then press the little key on the right side of the place where your fingers are (or should be when you are typing) - the key says "enter." The server for ValuMD will actually seach! It is just incredible!

In fact, I just did it http://www.valuemd.com/search.php then entered the request, it gave me 4 threads with my activity and the word "birth certificate" for me to see! Here are 2 of them.

    "Reply
They are required by the Mexican government. I recommend sending to your state health dept. to request a duplicate birth certificate because this on will be locked away in MX the whole time you are there. You do not want the original lost in a MX office pile.

    "Hy Skule
A word about high school. I do not think that UAG looks at high school. Those transcripts are for the MX government. I heard the words copy, etc said, so I want to make something clear.

It is not a matter of copy or not a copy, the key word is apostille. You will need to get the documents requested (birth certificate and transcripts). They need to be sent from their source of origin (transcripts) to the department that handles apostilles within that state from which that school is established. (Some schools want to send them directly, some schools have never heard of apostilles for transcripts, and you will have to tell them what they are and why you are needing this, and may do the sending yourself). Do a search online to find what the address is, fees, and procedures for getting an apostile. Sometimes you will find you will be dealing with more than one state.

Birth Certificates need the same thing, but I would not use the only original copy you have. You can request a duplicate from the state health department in which you were born. Average is $30. This is an official copy. Send it to be apostilled. These documents you have apostilled will sit in Mexico the entire time you are here. I would not send any originals you are not prepared to lose (although I actually do feel they are safe with the government here)."

    Was that so difficult?

I decided last night that every word I type is golden.

They just look like everyday black words to me.

However, if you look at my post, it is read [red]

illuminate me acg...how do you make them red? . on a more seriuos note, it is sometimes frustrating to repeat sometihing that you already posted but at tye same time we have to understand that people sometimes "forget" to use the search funtion or they are just completely lazy about reading other posts within the forum.

wow sorry i didn't think two simple questions could end up 'frustrating' people. i would have used the search function after acg suggested it...no need to complain about it!

anyway, thanks a lot acg for your information. i'll just get a copy of my birth certificate and high school diploma then. i did try contacting my admission counselor many times, but he is not responding.

so no one has any idea if Interfolio can be used to submit LORs at UAG? (and no, nothing comes up when i use the search function)

Mershia, Get the copy of your birth certificate from its state of origin, then send it back to another department of that same state for the apostille seal. You can do an internet search to find the address and fees for both the birth certificate and seal.

All the high schools I know will not make “duplicates” of a diploma after you graduate. I do not know if you have to give the original, or if you can make a notarized copy; ask the admissions dept. Either way, the diploma (and your 7th and 8th grade high school transcripts) will need to receive the apostille seal, too. It will need to be received from the state of origin. So, if you were born in a different state than where you graduated, you will be working with more than one state for the seals.

I do not think UAG is too concerned regarding how they obtain the letters of recommendation. I do not know anything about Interfolio. If they generally send the LORs, they it should be fine for UAG. All mine were sent through my pre-health department at my university. UAG is not too picky; it is the MX gov that is picky, so I am 99.999% sure your Interfolio should be fine for LORs.
