washa I can see your frustration and it clearly describes your failure in medical school. Don't blame the school for your failure, you are the only one responsible for the education and knowledge acquired during these years. I'm currently an UNIBE student who have not only passed but aced step 1 and step 2 and had the same professors you had.

I can say, however, that there are no bad schools, the students can make the best out of the situation if they want to. I've had my share of horrible professors but have made it a priority to work harder in those classes and have received excellent grades. There are no wrong comments, again I really appreciate everyone's honesty.

To unibedoc, is this your first year? If you don't mind me asking, how high was your gpa? I'm really afraid that due to my gpa, I won't be accepted into the school. :/
I'm currently In my last semesters (internship). I have a 3.8 GPA will definetely graduate with honors and have the USMLE passed.

LOL! FIrst of all, congratulation for passing the step 1 and 2, very impressive for someone that doesn't know how to read. I think you should read, very carefully, everything i posted before, i was saying exactly what you just said about people being responsible about their own education. Like i said before, they are some exceptions, everybody knows that all the old tests, can be found everywhere and trust me, if you get them, you will pass every class, because they don't change thru the years. But again, it's up to you how you want to become an MD ( like i said before). I had some of your teachers, i can tell you right now some of them are awesome, teach super good, care about the students, help them out, but some don't, and if you go to UNIBE like you said, you are not ignorant about that. Am not trying to belittle UNIBE or judge anybody, am giving my honest opinion of how i feel and what i have seen, about the school. Wathever you say about me, lol it's irrelevant, we don't know each other, it's ok ( that's says a lot about the maturity level), that's not how i handle things. I must say that if you need help getting into a residency program, in the future, when you are done with all your steps, let me know, in july i become a 3rd year Internal Medicine resident (main reason why i don't spend time in this forum), i mean, i only have one year left, maybe later, like in 3 or 4 years, still have some people in the program and i may be able to help you out. chaito pues!

    Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum, but, my post is well overdue. In the past, students who came to UNIBE were not required to attend classes and the program offered a lot more flexibility and TIME. The bottom line, is that medical school is medical school wherever you go. With countless resources (videos, books, internet, etc...) learning the information should not be impossible. Here is the major problem with UNIBE's new medical program. There is required mandatory attendance ranging from 6-8 hours + a day. This is not an exaggeration. If you miss the classes more than 3x you will fail. Sounds amazing right? wrong. Yes, there are good professors at UNIBE, but, with the lay out of the schedule and countless hours of time spent in class, it is completely inefficient. It is clear that whoever designed this new program has either never taken a medical course or has completely lost their mind. If you spend 30+ hours a week in class, studying becomes a burden and near impossible to cover the material your teacher didn't cover, or you didn't understand.. It gets better. The classes are scheduled back to back, literally with no breaks. For example, a Friday can have classes from 9-12 12-4 4-7 (that was one of my days). On top of the scheduling, core classes are slammed on top on one another. The 7th semester has Pharmacology, Pathology, Neurology, Immunology, microbiology, parasistology, and virology. This is not an exaggeration. I am a good student and I work very hard. On top of classes I study as much as any good medical student, and let me tell you, it is very difficult. UNIBE takes a difficult task (medical school) and makes it 100x harder. The school is constantly putting barriers in the way of our education and has 0 consideration for the students. Your main goal is the USMLE, how do you prepare for this exam when you have 8 hrs of class a day? The new program looks great on paper, but, it is a disaster. Every student is miserable and despises this institution. I could go on and on about what happens here, but, I do not have 24 hrs to write a summary. So, here is the bottom line, do doctors come out of UNIBE? yes, they have. In the old program the good students were left alone and had time to prepare (as i thought i would too). The new program, regardless of how good a student you are, it will run you into the ground and leave HUGE gaps in your knowledge. As I understand it, federal loans are going unsibsidized in the next few months. This being said, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. If you think I am a baby and "they are dumb I can do it" be my guest. Yes, I will graduate from this school and be a successful doctor, but what is happening at this school is wrong. The program is misleading. If you should choose to come, I promise you, you will look back on this post and kick yourself in the butt.

Oh and FYI, there are no old exams floating around anymore. In the new program the exams are made by the current professors of both the Spanish and English section. Cheating is impossible with the multiple proctors and all the exams are created the same week. So, for anyone that says "you can find old exams and pass" is from the old program. Times have changed.

There are a lot of forms involved, I can forward you the email she sent me if you want. My cousin loves the school. She's already doing more in her first year than I have all three years combined, haha. I'm sure unibe is looking for what any other college looks for, well-rounded students; now, if what you mean is what kind of gap average and/or meat scores, I would have no clue. I'm actually really interested in hearing what gpa and meat scores those who got into unibe had .

****** Paine, if you don't mind me asking, are you currently doing your residency in the U.S?
I have heard many mixed reviews about unibe and want to know how difficult was it for you to prepare for the usmles? I am looking at those comments as well, but I think it all depends on the student also. I am keeping my options open and I really appreciate your honest opinion, it has given me something to think about. Before applying to unibe though, what did you end up getting on the mcat? I'm really afraid that with a 3.2 gpa i won't be able to get in. I am however very involved in my campus but I really am clueless to what kind of students unibe looks for. I would really appreciate your feedback!
Can you email me the reqs for admission also? Please
