    UCNE - Universidad Catolica Nordestana

I'm Puerto Rican and I am looking to pursue a career in Medicine. I saw many options in RD because of its low cost and MCAT it's not a requisite. What I am asking is if anyone studied in the UCNE or knows anyone who study there and what it's his opinion about the university? I am considering UCNE because they gave me a very good orientation, the program seems to be very good and it's accredited in my country. How do you rate UCNE against other universities of RD? It is safe to live in San Francisco? Do they have good teachers? Why does anyone in here does not know or mention this university? Thanks in advance, your answer will be important in how do I make my decision.

I got accepted for September of this year but was able to defer my start date till January. Anyone else starting UCNE either of these dates?

Congratulations on being admitted to UCNE. Newlifedrj, it would be of great benifit if you could tell us all about the process it took you to get where you are now. Did you have to finish a Bachelors Degree? I'm a R.N with an ASN/ADN with 84 credits from Barry University plus about 24 more from Miami Dade College. Could you please tell me what the prerequisites are if you know them? Also, do you know if I could finish any missing prerequisites at UCNE? Any help will be great. Thank you
ID consult: vancomycin + aztreonam + metronidazole. Add acyclovir and fluconazole depending on the day of the week. If that doesn’t work, write a case report.

Dermatology consult: If it’s dry, wet it. If it’s wet, dry it. If not, use steroids and antifungal creams. If still no improvement, biopsy.

Yes you can finish any missing pre-medicine at UCNE, the problem with that is the loan amount will be less in comparison with the people who enter directly in Medicine---(instead of Pre-Medicie) But yeah you can do it. Even though with less amount of loan money.. u still will be able to be just fine there. Maybe a little tight.. but if you are a single person yeah.. i will say you will be fine.
Call the office to ask this questions at: 787-240-1030 it is free when u call from US territory. The lady name is Yanet Morgana. She answered me all my questions. She is located in Puerto Rico. I need to call her too and ask her a few other questions I have. Also I will like to talk to someone who is already in the University.. just to know fresh news, direct news about how is it.. how real is the dream.... how the classes, the people the livins spenses etc. If any one out there please? I know people onces they got accepted and start going to school.. they just forget about this forum... Ohh well

Thanks for the info Frogger. I called the office and they verified what you had said, a bachelor's degree is not a requirement to be accepted into the program, one can transfer the credits completed, they will go over them and whichever class i am missing i can simply take either over there. I sent them an email requesting more info and they said i should get a reply within a week or two, hopefully i do get a reply because i send an email to UNIBE 3 weeks ago and nothing has been replied. So far it looks like a legitimate school with accreditation here in the states, which is all i am looking for. I'll self teach every course if i have to, but i do need that accreditation to take the Steps. The beginning of yet another long process, lets see what happens. Maybe someone who hasn't forgotten about this forum can shine some light into the process of admissions into this school. Much peace..

    Thank you Frogger and Deadbunny.

I apologize for my late reply ive been extremely busy with work.

Getting into UCNE was no walk in the park...and when I got ALL of my documents ready and sent them......FEDEX kept trying to deliver them for about 10 days and no one was ever there...eventually one of the admins had to go pick the package up and I received an immediate call.

So just be aware that the same can happen.

    1. I first needed to request: all high school, and college transcripts,
    2. get them certified and notarized by school custodian or records,
    3. then apostallized at the respective department of state for the state each individual school is located.
4.Then I had to get my birth certificate (long form) apostallized,
    5. also my certificate of good conduct from local police department notarized and apostallized.
    6. You need to fill out app,
    7. send in 2 passport sized photos,
    8. a believable written statement as to why you want to become a physician, and
    9. 2 letters of recommendations (one by a past professor, and one by an MD or DO whom you've shadowed or knows you in a professional environment),
    10. you need to get a school physical on UCNE's specific form.
    11. ALL of YOU DOCUMENTS HAVE TO BE TRANSLATED INTO SPANISH WITH THE EXCEPTION OF YOUR MEDICAL ASSESSMENT (school physical)

Then you have to cross your fingers. I could be missing a step or two Im rushing through this post, so my apologies for poor grammar.

As of now they haven't raised their current GPA requirement, though I spoke to the school and they said it was going to happen. My guess is it'll be a requirement for Fall 2013.

I didn't have an AS Nor ** so I will be starting at the pre-med level.

As far as school loans, I believe you get close to half of your normal school loan. All of this info will be in the package they send you.

It is a stressful and pretty long journey...just to get accepted because of all of the certifications, notarizations, translations and appostillizations that need to be completed by a certain time.

Good Luck and post if you have any more questions.
