    Interested in UNIBE Medical School

    Advertisements

    Hello
My name is Sara and I am interested in attending the UNIBE(pre medical school). I would like to know about the English and Spanish systems. Which one is better and why? Do we make our own schedule for classes or is it made for us? On a scale from 1-10 how would you rate the UNIBE academically( pre med)? Are there a lot of international studets in the medical program? I would also like email of current student at the UNIBE if you would be so kind. I currently live in Mexico City and know a lot about he Dominican Republic becasue most of my family is from there. So those who have questions about the life there etc. I am more pleased to answer them for you. Oh and am I late for the application of Sept 04? If I am I can apply for january correct?
    Thanks
    SAra

    Sara

if you are Dominican you can pay a greatly reduced tuition but I guess it is for the spanish lang program. The country has an extensive public health system and many hospitals both public and private. there is ample opportunity to learn clinical medicine.

the city of SD has changed a lot in the last few years. much new construction. not a bad place to live but the traffic lately is worsening though still a blessing c/w that of DF.

There are a multitude of fine teachers and not so fine teachers, like anywhere else, including and especially the usa, where medical students especially tend to think the grass is greener.

there are numerous excellent restaurants in SD, a very important factor for the moments you may get homesick. you can always go to El Gran Lina and order a Chateau Briand and after crepes suzette, and the list goes on and on. still a bargain with us dollars or euros.

you will make great friends at schools, not only dominicans but from all continents. the island has many surfing spots or diving, whichever you prefer.

    eran anos muy valorados

    buena suerte

    About UNIBE

Hi Sara, I'll try to answer all of your questions.

1-No, you're not to late to apply for sept/04, the deadline for Admissions and Financial Aid is july 30th. For Jan/05, deadline is Nov 30th.

2-Which is better, the spanish or english program? is something that will only depend on how well you manage the language, personally I reccommend the English program if you are interested in being a Doctor in the US ( which I suppose). You will need to take your USMLE and everything else you do in english, so why study in spanish? however, this is up to you.

3-Schedules are made for you, you have an option to modify some classes if they are available.

4- I'm an UNIBE graduate (class of '98 ) and I can honestly tell you that I love the school and we have excellent graduates in all our programs. I've been working with the International Medical Students for 3 years now, we have over 500 Intn'l students in our Med and Pre-Med program and I think they enjoy their life both in UNIBE and the DR.

I hope I didn't leave anything out, for further information you can email me at: [email protected]

    Regards,

    USMLE Scores

    Hello,

These scores are not available, they're confidential. Of course we only hear from the students that do good, the ones that fail don't go around telling us, but, I can tell you that over 50% of our students pass it on the first try.

    Any other questions????
