Getting 3 As isn't that hard and many of the students may have lacked other qualities like extracurriculars, poor interview performance, low UKCAT scores.

As it stands 40% of students get into medical school which is quite a respectable number and currently the shortage is in ST spots rather than medical school spots.

Tricuspid - not so true. The law of numbers means that straight A students, with great extracurricular and great UKCAT scores, still do not get in as there are about 5000 applications for 140 places (as in the case of Leeds Medical School last year where I had applied, my rejection email stated these figures so they are accurate).

40% of students get into any medical school not a specific medical school. It is difficult to get into medicine.
