    TUSOM now listed in FAIMER-IMED!!!

    Advertisements

Trinity University School of Medicine (TUSOM) is pleased to announce its listing in the FAIMER-IMED. FAIMER is the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research and IMED is the arm of FAIMER that provides the formal listing of those medical schools who are accredited by the appropriate government agency in the country where the medical school is located. In the case of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the agency responsible is the Ministry of Education and the Honourable Mirlyn Miguel, Minister of Education, formally notified FAIMER on May 8, 2008, of the formal accreditation of Trinity University School of Medicine by recommendation of the National Accreditation Board, on April 12, 2008. The final step in the process for formal listing of the school is the commencement of classes at the school. The fall semester at Trinity University School of Medicine commenced on September 8, 2008 and the official listing was added to the IMED database on Friday, September 19, 2008.

What does this mean for our students? This formal listing and the assignment of a code enables our students to register for and take the USMLE Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 examinations through the ECFMG the Educational Committee for Foreign Medical Graduates. This organization also certifies foreign medical graduates for participation in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).
With this listing, Trinity University School of Medicine students are now on a level playing field with those from the US and from other foreign medical schools who are privileged to be listed in the FAIMER International Medical Education Directory (IMED).

I call it like I see it. I am not paid by ValueMD or any school. Nor do I recruit for any school.

WHO Listing & the Pirates of the Caribbeans

    WHO Listing so what ??

Same with other PIRATES like: St. Theresa, St. Christopher, St. Luke (all are now officially closed !!!) etc...
WHO Doesn't mean much, Will see where the school stands in 20 years from now...so far, I've seen MANY PIRATES open and close their doors, offering very poor education leaving students with huge debts, and for the lucky ones an MD degree, with no chance at residency....

Prospective students should really do their homework and review programs, talk to alumni, and state medical boards....worse case scenario apply to the top 3 schools in the Caribbean....

I hope you do not take offense UHSADOC, but here goes: WHY are you going from one school forum board to another, calling the schools pirates, when YOU went to (according to your name) University of Health Sciences - Antigua. Using reverse psychology to attack and motivate others to doing more homework is NOT constructive. As a licensed family physician, you should be SMARTER in choosing your words. Not that I care, but if anybody were to backtrack and find you out, and do a little expose on you, the way you are bashing other schools with your statements right now ... I assume it would hurt your bottom line... yes? no?... maybe!... Point being - if you cant give CONSTRUCTIVE advice, please do not post. If you have time to just bash, go to a wall and use the wall. Others here come from tough situations, as you must have. THey only seek guidance. No school is perfect, and every school can improve to be as competitive as the top 3. But who left and made you the pirateer, sorry i meant pioneer, of 2010 to go and exemplify yourself?

FYI, I wont post any more messages like this. I apologize for doing it in a public forum, but it seems as if you did not get the point last time. I wont do it anymore. Congrats on your achievement. Guide others to make the same achievements.

    they are true pirates

    EXACTLY right !!!
read some of my past posts, I did enroll in one of the pirate schools, forked out well over 200K and 4 years of hard work, and barely made it. I was matched only 3 years after graduation, and BARELY BARELY got through.....many didn't....I did a research fellowship and got my MPH concurrently, all to increase my odds.....
I know for a fact there are many many more MDs with worse stories....I still owe over 150K in loans, after residency....I at least have a job, but I know many that attended other worse schools hence my terminology of PIRATES as bad as they are, they will take your $$$ and leave you jobless, they really don't care what you do with your MD, or worse, some schools here enrolled students then closed after taking their $$$...
I see so many naive and ignorant students here on ValueMD, that it is very upsetting, and I decided to speak out, and show that the "picture portrayed" by some of these PIRATES is biased, and false, just a trap to suck you in and enroll you.....in most of these programs, the teachers barely speak english, and the quality of education really is INFERIOR !!!
I did alot of self directed learning, in order to pass the boards......
read some of my past posts, my critic here is to be as a guide and hope that many students will think 10X before enrolling in these PIRATED SCAMS !!!

    Cheers

I think we can agree on everything you just said...except in some of your posts when you knock the whole carib...big 3/4 not excluded. I agree with you that as carib schools have grown in number exponentially, these "pirate" schools are the only ones increasing in number...I think it's fair to say that SGU/AUC/Ross have been around the block long enough to have made a positive impact and produce great physicians. Yet, there are plenty of schools that don't even have a US practicing physician even though that is their goal...I'm with you 100% that students need to do ALL of their research...look here, look on SDN, TALK TO STUDENTS/ALUM...this will give you the best shot of figuring out what you want to do! It's sad to see students who have never even talked to an alum of the school they are going to...cmon now be smart

I can respect that. I give you credit. Congrats on making it through an infamously twisted Caribbean system. I can only hope that others will develop the maturity, widsom, and, in short, smarten up, to do their homework properly, rather than deciding impulsively. Facts say otherwise. Perhaps as a more constructive approach, a system can be developed to help others avoid getting caught in such treacherous, pirate filled waters. ... And long behold, be a map to direct the scavengers to the treasure that is the licensed and fully legal M.D. degree that allows us to practice. PM me with ideas if you want. I hope people read this interaction between us and learn - again, I hope. I'm out.
