    Tusom

The school is officially listed in IMED as promised by the founders of the school.

As for comments, on the school, so far so good. I am extremely pleased with the professors that they have hired to assist us in our endeavor. The first two weeks were heavy on clinical medicine and H&P as the class will start clinical rotations this coming week. The meat and potatoes as you will are to begin tomorrow. I can comment about that once we have started.

25 Students are here including me. The individual attention has been very helpful from all the staff. This is a new school and there are still some wrinkles that will need to be ironed out, but this was disclosed to us prior to coming here. We are the inaugural class so I still foresee some turbulent waters ahead. I can attest that every student here is very capable of accomplishing their goals!

saw the listing...nice to see that trinity is following through.

question though...saw the housing videos...is the campus housing at Haddaways? (or a least what was known as Haddaways)...looks very familiar...

Right now they are really trying to clean this place up. Some units have new A/C's, pots & pans, hot water etc. The pool has also been repaired and is in use during the afternoon and evening times. The Jacuzzi is still not fixed but plans are being made to reapir that too. The kitchen has been remodeled and is in working order with the same lady as SGU had here. The leaking rooks have also been repaired or replaced and painted. All in all they are trying at least.

    About TUSOM from a Student

This school has been poorly managed from day 1. The academic building was not in place and is still under construction, so no “state of the art” facilities here – that’s a lie on their website. The so called “dorms” are moldy and leak water every time it rains, which is almost daily. As far as academics, the Anatomy instructor lost his license to practice medicine in the UK – and is rude and acts like he has better things to do, so he doesn’t teach. Biochem is taught by some Indian guy who you can’t understand worth a darn – and if you ask a question he get lost and confused. Histology is taught by an Arab guy who thinks every slide is “beautiful”; while we (all the students) are left to teach ourselves and wonder what we are paying for. The Dean handles every problem by talking about the local marijuana. The local people look at the students like walking piggy-banks and try to nickel and dime us for everything they can – so much for friendly locals. The long and short of it, if you can go someplace else DO IT. This school is run like a money maker and not an academic institution. So you should wait for things to get better (if they ever do) or look to go to med school elsewhere. EM is a salesman and he will lie his bum off to get you to come. Be smart; visit the school first or save your money and get a real education someplace else. Sorry for the truth – but this place lied to all of us. I’m not saying this because I’m failing (we haven’t even taken our first mini yet), I’m telling you the truth because I don’t want other people suckered in like I was and lied to so these people can make a buck off your innocence. Hope this helps.

Interesting. I guess we will have to wait and see as to what the other Trinity students have to say, before making a concensus.

In response to my beloved classmate, I do not agree with the previous posting. It is SO unprofessional to vent your frustrations in this manner. I do not regularly post on forums, but this posting has me livid. “From day 1” we have discussed as a class the impact of our inauguration. Trinity is striving to be a premier Caribbean medical school. I am quite sure that other classmates are in agreement that we should not slander our school. We should not be stooping down to this level on the internet (of all places). We have a wonderful administration and faculty whose experience combined is out of this world. All of our instructors are highly intelligent and experts in their fields.

For those of you who are used to posh lifestyles full of people ready to wipe your behind and bow down to temper tantrums, Caribbean med schools are NOT for you. For those of you who can not thrive without being spoon fed medical curriculum, this school is NOT for you. However, students who are self motivated, ready to work hard and appreciate the opportunity have a fighting chance. As with any new situation, adaptability is inevitable. If this situation is SO unbearable and you are SO unhappy, make the necessary changes and leave. There are plenty of other people who would appreciate this opportunity.
